Can we just talk about the bonus situation? Not everyone aboard the Prometheus is game for what happens.... Fruit for thought. Creative thoughts bring me to a conclusion, there is no bonus situation in this film as well. What the hell?! I want my bonus!

I'm pretty psyched too that Scott is making this movie, returning to his Sci-fi/horror past and all. From what I've seen and read, this movie appears to have little or nothing to do with the 1st Alien movie other than set designs and images. I don't think it will fit with the story in Alien at all. So, hopefully, it will be awesome all on its own. Never did include any of the sequels in my personal Alien universe...they were all pretty crappy, except Aliens, which I felt was really an action flick set in space. And, as much as it seems that people want to make this out to be a really deep movie, it looks pretty straight forward: Guy Pearce opens things up with his comparisons to humans having achieved God-like status in the universe, builds and names a ship "Prometheus" (kind of a bad idea really, considering Prometheus' fate) and sends it off to "steal the fire"...and guess what happens next folks? That written, I still want to see this more than anything else I have heard about this year.

Hey guys, I'm new to the site and let me just say what a wonderful resource to the new up and coming Prometheus movie this site is! I have followed the discussions on here for months now, although I haven't felt the need to contribute something until now which is why I decided to sign up. I'm a big fan of all the alien movies and have watched them all many times. Look forward to being able to contribute to this community. How do I post a new topic? I can't seem to see a new topic button anywhere.

I personally shit my pants when I saw Alien in the theatre (yes, I'm that old). Am impressed with Blade Runner. But Stanley Kubrick is the man to beat (Prometheus has a lot to deliver to surpass 2001:a space odyssey)

Hi all, I've loved the Alien film since '77( when I was younger I thought the Alien lived behind the attic door outsde my room, and nighttime trips to the toilet were harrowing!). I found the whole premise got weaker and weaker IMO, more than anything I've found the mystery and the Egdar Alan Poe thing of "half in the shadows, half seen, totally alien" just fizzled out after Scott masterpiece. The characters of Shaw and David read as two innocents that learn develop and evolve... sounds a bit like that christian golden oldy of Adam and Eve! I've been reading these threads (and I'm sorry if it's been touched upon but...) has anyone any thoughts on the upward dripping liquid on the egg that Kane approaches in ALIEN and the surface dancing stuff on top of one of the vial, urn containers and the alien/ Gigeresque type thing forming on the ceiling in the trailer for Prometheus?

Hey everyone. I've been following this website for quite a while now and finally decided to create a profile. I'm way excited for Prometheus just like everyone else here. I grew up having nightmares about the alien films and I've always considered Giger's alien to be the scariest of all aliens depicted on film. I've grown to love Ridley Scott's movies over the years and respect his work very much so. Hope to have some fun discussing things with everyone her at prometheus-movie.com. :)

What's happening, Biz72 here. I swear I registered under another name on this site before, but couldn't figure out how to retrieve my password. No "contact an admin" tab anywhere, or am I having a mini-stroke? Anyhow, longtime Alien/s fan. Dad took me to see the original in the theatre at the tender age of 6. Not his fault, I begged and pleaded thinking it was something along the lines of Forbidden Planet. Yeah, I know. In '86, we went to Cameron's sequel. I remember being physically tired after that roller coaster ride. Sounds silly, but that movie probably had a slight influence on me joining the Marines 8 years later. True story. Not a fan of 3 or resurrection, sorry to those that are. Looking forward to some good discussion.

Hi all, just a quick one to say hello :). Has anyone noticed in the trailers so far that the Space jockey looks more of a human size than when looking at the original one in Alien? The arm alone in Alien looks about the length of tom skerrit?

Hello everyone, I joined because this site is really amazing, the way you guys talk about Prometheus and the discussions about what the movie could be about are just fantastic. I really enjoy reading everything posted. I can't wait to see the movie. :) I saw Alien when I was 7 (I snuck into the TV room while my parents had a dinner party!) and I was hooked and have wanted a Xeno as a pet ever since LOL! I Love the Aliens franchise, esp. the Androids/synthetics; Ash, Bishop and Call and can't wait to see what the newest addition, David, will be like. No surprise, I am a huge fan of Ridley Scott, HR Giger and "Blade Runner" as well. ~Svanya

Hi folks, ...I thought it was about time to join the board since I'm psyched about this movie as all of you. For starters, I live in Michigan and appreciate all the Prometheus material that I've been browsing on the site. The Alien still-shot my book was my introduction to the film ( I might have 12ish at that time) and nothing compares to this film. Think I bought the Quadrilogy at Breast Buy after the price came down (even at full price it's worth every cent)..finally, we get the backstory after 30 years! Well, suppose that it for right now (my Ativan and a full stomach is hitting me!) BTW, Rush rules!

I just recognized that "BTW" can stand for Between The Wheels from P/G..I've seen them live on every tour since Roll The Bones (outdoor venues also rule). Myself and a friend drove to Sarnia for an outdoor show during the "Time Machine" tour a couple of summers ago...too bad his 1994 felony for an LSD bust sent him back to Port Huron :S...I was on Alex's side about 20 feet from the stage. My ears are still ringing from that show.

Hi all! Duke here. Finally signed up for this forum after reading the posts for weeks (slacker!). Never have I been in such anticipation of a movie as this one. 'Alien' ranks as my personal favorite movie. A great story, well acted, with edge of your seat suspense the whole way through. Really happy and excited to see Ridley Scott return and attempt to answer the big Space Jockey question. My hope is that the movie indeed lives up to all the hype. Too often we see movies that come out with really cool trailers only to be a disappointment in the theater. I like what I see so far in the trailers, and hope they don't come out with too much more, as I feel that would spoil the fun. I'll be there June 8th!

Hi everyone!!..I myself am totally an Aliens fan, even AVP no doubt...Just want to point out that the concept of having element of the proceeding movie is totally doable, but base on the character(the jockey) in this film I can't understand why there is a hard time with this being a prequel. Either way it still is some connection with the 1979 movie Alien.

Greetings to Everyone.. Long time fan of ALIEN eversince 1979 when I first saw it on the big screen. Was the only movie that scared the crap out of me. I very much look forward to seeing this "Prequel", I feel my inner child getting excited about it and I try to keep away from a lot of the postings that might have tid bits about the plot/story/script, really ruins it for me. Bad enough that I keep going back to see the trailers, pausing it and disecting what could be happening. Shouldn't do it, but cannot help it.

Hello I'm Synthrimonger94!! Been a huge Alien fan all my life! My favorite is the original Alien and Alien3 the assembly cut which I thought was actually very good and ended the Alien series in a satisfactory way! The original Alien is the best though! Hope Giger has an awesome design for the Proto-Xeno!!

It is certainly some kind of a trap. And as implied, maybe something much more unexpected than what they only see. Definitely, all in the trailer declare clearly..."we were so wrong"...so what remains? " if we don't stop it now...there will be no home to go back too" so...."it's not a map...it's an invitation".So they were wrong about thinking of it as an invitation. So what could be the reason for a higher inteligence to trap other species? leave them homeless? without their mother planets? So in this case the pictograms were planted for that reason in those home planets. That means that the higher intelligence had vistied these home planets. Why then didn't it destroy them then? Why let them evolve? Hmmm.....broad horizons here. The classic version: they let them evolve until as you imply they realize and answer that invitation. At this stage of evolution, they could start becoming a threat. So that would be the time for them to move in and destroy the home planet of the adequately evolved species. What still puzzles me, is why we get throughout the trailer, the feeling of genetic material mixing, alien DNA mixing with human that is? Maybe this is how the higher intelligence is going to destroy the home planet of each species. Two option here: First, they use the visitors to mimic their DNA and move to their respective home planets undetected to execute a destruction plan.Second: they don't just mimic the visitor's DNA to go undetected to their respective home planets...they use this mixed DNA to polute the entire home planet population. And now my last question: polute to just kill them? or mabye polute to trasnform each home planet resident into an alien being same as the engineers? and of course totally under control?(this, in case the mixed DNA cannot make the inhabitants of the home planets as higher beings as the engineers themshelves, but something like lower-intelligence creatures totally controlled by them due to the mixed DNA).Why didn't they just blow up the home planets from the beginning? Before the invitation?I say why bother? or ...creatures at that time would not mix well with the alien DNA if they hadn't yet gone into an advanced stage of evolution (the one that would allow them to accept and fulfill the invitation). Do they want just smart (efficient that is) slaves?Wow man. This could go on forever and not stop till we actually get to see the movie. Thanks for your inspiring thoughts. I will also post this theory indepentendly.I will be glad to hear your thoughts.
