AdminAtmanJan-10-2013 8:03 PMIn the recent Pacific Rim CES Trailer, there is a short cut scene as the Jaeger Pilots are preparing to initiate launch operations, we notice a yellow fluid escaping their helmets. What do you think this fluid is and what is its purpose? Could it be concussive jell to prevent from head trauma while operating the Jaegers? Or something else?

MemberNoobJan-11-2013 5:15 AMI remember Guillermo mentioning that the helmets fill with "Relay Gel". This combined with the spinal clamp creates the neural bridge.
Also I think it would have an added safety benefit of minimising trauma from impact damage while in combat since fluid is a better shock absorber than air for both head and lungs.
Now I need someone to explain why their helmets always seen clear during combat.....

MemberNoobJan-11-2013 5:54 AMI think the fluid fills up and when the neural connection is made it drains out coz we saw the fluid draining out in the trailer. So afterwards when they are fighting the helmets are clear and ya it does look like TANG... hahaha...

L.C.L. is the liquid that fills an Entry Plug once a pilot is on board. It is viscous and has an unpleasant odor similar to that of blood. Once inside an Entry Plug, the L.C.L. is electrically charged, altering its molecular configuration and turning its color from a murky orange to a clear translucent.

Some fans used to call the oxygenated liquid as 'Link Connect Liquid' but LCL is actually Lilith's blood , a steady stream of it pouring down the cross, and it is the true source of the LCL used in Evangelion Entry Plugs. Indeed, the "LCL Production Plant" is really just a large artificial lake of LCL formed by it pooling on the level beneath Lilith's red cross. The LCL apparently flows out of the exit wound formed by the Spear of Longinus in Lilith's back (as there is no LCL flowing out of the front of its torso) though Nerv has been collecting LCL from Lilith since long before the Spear was recovered in 2015 (in Episode 12). Several production sketches reveal that there are actually tubes coming out of the back of Lilith's head, labeled "LCL tube A" etc., which may be another means of extracting it.
