Many members of the Godzilla community dismissed it as a just a toy and others insisted it would be in the movie. Now based on the latest news, I wonder what the community thinks now.

I think the name Mega Godzilla is probably never going to be used if so, It reminds me of Godzilla vs MechaGodzilla 2, when MechaGodzilla is given the name Super MG, because of an extension. That name is licensed by Toho, and even though I find it unlikely that the name will be used, or the extension, I don’t think means that it can be ruled out.
