Why Venom needs to be more like Riot

After Venom came out October 5th, 2018, I still have this question in head after seeing the movie. The question is "Why isn't Venom more like Riot?" Both Venom and Riot are symbiote right? During the battle of Venom vs Riot, Riot was doing all kinds of stuff that Venom wasn't doing at all. Riot was changing his body parts into weapons and shooting spikes from his back while Venom was punching and ripping Riot apart. I don't dislike the movie. I love it. But it will be better if Venom can do some of the stuff that Riot can do. Tell me what you guys think. Could Venom be better if he did some stuff that riot does or not?
