are the experiences of past xenomorph queens passed down through generations? or does the embryo take these from the host? I ask due to a thought I had about the xenos in their cage in AR. 2 disembowel their sibling to escape but assuming they haven't witnessed the effects of their blood, how did they know they would escape by killing the other xeno? did this knowledge come from the queen that produced the eggs due to the queens attachment to the host who was aware of the effects of the blood? would other xenos/ queens, birthed naturally have this ability or do u think this is just due to the nature of their creation? not sure if this has been covered

@ali81

So the queens are some kind of Bene Gesserit? But, in all honesty I have nothing to add to the topic but hopefully someone will.

The mandarin ducklings jump from their nest in the tree when the time comes.

I think the xenomorph should be at least that clever!

"He survived, he’s now in Disneyland in Orlando, and no way am I going back there. How did he end up in Disneyland? I saw him in Disneyland, Jesus Christ!"

Good question. Maybe they attacked the weaker xeno and the resulting escape hole was a happy accident? Then again, it appeared that the two stronger xenos planned that escape. I honestly don't know but it is a great topic for debate.

Easy one, that. David simply tweaked a couple of genes so that when a bunch of xenos feel trapped in a confined space, they let rip on the runt of the litter. They don't need to know the result of this action any more than a bee knows about the chemistry of its sting.

But... you never know. In the novelisation of AR, Alan Dean Foster suggests that the xenos can communicate telepathically. And in (ahem) AVP, the Queen is clearly directing the drones via an alien signalling mechanism to do a similar thing. After being around for a couple of thousand years, she's learned a thing or two. Unlike the xeno in AC, who has a go at some metalwork in a fit of anger.

hox I had forgotten about the telepathy part. It seems they put the pieces together that way and they may have known what the acidic blood would do as the below scene shows. There would not seem to be any other motivation to kill the runt. Hard to say.

As for genetic memory, Ripley demonstrated having it during Resurrection several times.

I think genetic memory is a very clever defense mechanism and I think it would be cool if the Xeno's had it.  I think it's the way to go.

The xeno did seem to have some kind of telepathic abilities in AR. This thread is a motivator to re watch this week!

ignorantGuy So the queens are some kind of Bene Gesserit

Hahaha nice one XD

Maybe the Queens protect the Melange Spice??

If you go by the Dark Horse comics and novels the Empress and Queen's Mother have exceptional telepathy. Like the Zerg Hivemind in Starcraft

telepathic communication I think is def something wed all agree on. but id say the way its shown in AR, theres no other reason for the 2 stronger xenos to attack the runt. its a very deliberate act to escape as they see an opportunity while the scientists r distracted and then they attack.

Another case in point. The xeno seemed to be controlling Gediman in a scene. The trance was broken when the inner mouth struck the barrier.

its an interesting thought and another ability of the xeno I think would be beneficial to the beast but in this instance I think it was more playing with him. Gediman was the one who instigated it. he moved to the glass first and showed his teeth first but im not saying u couldn't be right about a xenos ability to put sentient beings into a form of trance

Indeed Gediman started it, but it becomes a case of who is controlling whom- vague and left to the viewer. I also agree the xeno could have been merely toying with him.

just more aspects of the xeno that id love to see explored in future movies.

dk said,"xeno seemed to be controlling Gediman in a scene"

honestly, I've always interpreted the scene with the loneliness Gediman feels (I kind of put that feeling on David in A:C, but I'm not going into the details of that right now.  It just is vaguely resembles.)

I think Gediman is lonely because he's a top notch scientist which is why he is allowed to be on a ship doing those kind of experiments outside of Earth regulated space.  Gediman is damn good at science.  Plus, I would say a bit morally off since he obviously is doing those experiments.

I felt like Gediman, in a way, naturally fell in love with his experiment.  He thinks he's some kind of superpower since he has this kind of power to work on humans, illegally, on top of a previously uncapturable species.  Gediman is in love because he loves his work.  His work is capable of expressing some emotions.  In A:R, it responds to Gediman's instigation and Gediman just eats it up.  It's like Gediman is some horny teenager.  He completely ignore the women working with him.  When Gediman get's killed, I think his women associate expresses a little bit of hurt from losing Gediman because now he's gone forever and I think she wanted to be more than just an associate (maybe they were?).  Gediman's work comes first over lovers and naturally when one of Gediman's specimens (uncapturable alien species) is capable of responding back, Gediman just gets even more of a high off of it.  It's pure lust really.

Yet' Gediman underestimates the smarts of the Xeno, which is why he gets killed.

That is how I have interpreted that scene every time I watched it.  I hope I explained my view well.

The female with Gediman did appear to have a connection that was more than professional imo. I also read somewhere that his "seed" may have been involved somehow with that little bugger taken out of R8's chest at the start of the movie?

"As for genetic memory, Ripley demonstrated having it during Resurrection several times"

I must also agree with that statement and so perhaps the Xeno-DNA does have a way of passing on instincts/memories of its previous generations, while also possessing memories from its host, its totally plausible.

We agree ali81.

Alan Decker in Alien: Sea of Sorrows, a descendant of Ellen Ripley centuries after the events of Alien Resurrection has dreams where he sees and feels things from the xenomorph perspective. Pretty wild.
