Member2KJan-08-2018 3:20 PM'Director Denis Villeneuve has now confirmed that the full four-hour version will never see the light of day.'
"The thing is, it's true that the first cut was four hours and at one point we were like, 'Okay, do we go to the producer and release it in two?' But let's say the idea of the movie being in two parts didn't get out of the editing room."
'The director went on to admit that he thought the first cut's length was "self-indulgent" and added that audiences are very unlikely to see the extended cut of Blade Runner 2049 ever, mainly because he doesn't actually like it.'
"Even if sometimes I'm cutting my favourite shots, I still strongly think that when it's cut on the floor of the editing room it should not go back to see the light of day again. I don't like extended cuts."
"That's the movie I made," he said. "I will not show it to anyone, the four hours, it doesn't work.

MemberRespectedJan-08-2018 6:17 PMThere is no such thing as "scenes we'll never see". Specially with the lack of commercial during the theatrical run, they will probably release dozens of different versions in the coming years. The mere mention of the fact that there is a four hour version is already planting an idea in the fans' minds, creating a need. And if it is true that Villeneuve didn't like the 4 hour verson, good for him. That is much better than being incapable of making self criticism like Ridley Scott. First time he shows the tiniest bit of self criticism and it is about the screenplay that he never wrote.
