Interesting point. Seems Netflix is in a similar bind in some ways too. I have no idea how it will shake out. I am thinking everyone has been paid for their work so it is on the studio to recoup any losses perhaps? If this crashes, I would not put the blame on RS though.
Honestly, I never even heard of this movie or watched House of Cards, so I don't have a horse in this race since I had no intention of watching either show or film.

MemberRespectedNov-07-2017 2:11 AMYes. Poor Ridley. If the movie is really good I hope the scandal does not ruin its chances at the Oscars: it would be unfair. The movie has been pulled from a movie festival nevertheless. At least "Murder in The Orient Express" beat Thor in its second week in the UK. I don't think it is going to be that successful in the US though. Anyway this has been an unlucky year for Ridley Scott.

MemberContributorNov-08-2017 2:56 PMThere may still be interest, or even more interest, due to the controversy, so I think it will at least break even at the box-office.
Critically? I don't know. I imagine that critics who see it will review it without Spacey's actions in mind. There will probably just be no awards. I guess the studio has decided against any kind of oscar campaign for it. They were going to try and get one for Spacey's performance/physical transformation, but now... Not so much.

MemberInitiateNov-10-2017 10:19 AMHopefully, it flops, and Scott will realize he needs to kick ass on the Covenant follow up. Scott made it clear he feels that the Xeno is obsolete, and Covenant was a business move rather than a passion project.
I can't support Scott too much anymore, and his disjointed storytelling methods in the Alien universe make me frustrated.

MemberInitiateNov-10-2017 10:29 AMBright as ever, the latest news says Sir Ridley will do his best and replace Spacey just a month or so before the release, for he's considering all the other professionals who worked on his latest project.

That's a guy who knows what he's doing, and that's why I'm a Sir Ridley person.
