Morph Lifeforms' Exit From Host

I can only assume that the mutagen-based organisms will move through organic material (jaw bone below on Paradise) as quickly as they are able to move through reinforced synthetic material (Weyland space suits on LV-223 above) but the speed does seem consistent.

The need to find an exit from the host through soft tissue may be very low because the neomorph will swim towards the outside no matter what the "material" hurdle may be.

Entering the Host

The xenomorph/neomorph's ability to penetrate material from the outside seems to be at the same speed shown in host exiting.

The facehugger also showed a sprint ability to make it's way through rigid material in an instant.

The Deacon also showed an ability to move through material by backing up through the reinforced ribcage of the Engineer suit in moments.

The Engineer pressure suits (dead Engineers below) offered the same protection from morph travel as the Weyland Industries gear.

@Ingeniero - I absolutely love the LV-223 Engineer, or 'Bob' in his suit!  I really hope to see these guys do some killin', soon!!

Yes Cerulean Blue. I'm looking forward to the Engineer cultural reaction to the events on Paradise. I hope what the Engineers do in response will make the LV-223 Engineer look like a camp counselor.

David 8 showed us what he can do with their weaponry...now I'd like to see the Engineers operate their own weapons once agitated.

The jaw situation is puzzling, maybe funny, but definitely puzzling.  An injury like that is similar to what you would get from a small-mid caliber rifle impact.  Or maybe even from an axe strike.  So looking at a 4lb axe head swung at 70mph gives you ~650 foot-pounds of force at impact.  Similar to the impact force of an xm193 5.56 @ ~250yards.  Long story short, that is a hell of a hit to take in the jaw.  So we can conclude the infant neo is pretty durable to create similar instantaneous damage, especially when swimming through flesh is not an environment for high speeds...AND it was able to do so while not damaging itself!?  Impressive, but conflicts with the fact that it was pretty easy to damage (fatally) with a gunshot to the chest.  So is it durable, or not?  Going through the spine is one thing, since you could conclude it passed through a gap between vertebrae.  But cleanly and explosively through a jaw bone has me scratching my head :-). Oh, and what was it pushing/pulling against to generate this incredible force?  Equal and opposite reactions apply so that is another law physics that doesn't seem to apply here.

Thank you so much for commenting Spearfish. I saw on Ati's thread where you described the neomorph exiting through flesh and that it didn't look like a product of evolution because of the inconsistencies in how it exited the host....good comment.

I agree.

The mutagen-based organisms seem to be "designed" opposed a product of natural selection. My best attempt to answer the neomorph dying from the rifle is the neomorph's inability to regenerate fast enough after each additional shot from Captain Oram.

That had been a very long day for Captain Oram and I can imagine all clips may have been used on the neomorph had it not expired when it did.

From David 8's drawings, he seems to be really interested in the shellfish double-ribbing and lateral ridges in the extremities' bones....so, the strength of the tail you mention above may be due to these design elements.

Going through the spine can't be easy but a spike-backed demon has a leg up on his smooth-back counterparts when going that route.

I guess that it is just a CGI programmer (if that's the correct term?) not being familiar with physics and anatomy.  And they probably didn't count on a group of people analyzing the finer details - which is fun.  The force needed to cleanly split the mandible down the cleft in the chin would surely have just resulted in the entire mandible coming off (not splitting), or depending on where the animal was exerting force, would have separated the head from the neck.   At least that seems more plausible to me.

I don't think you were too far off with the axe blade reference above Spearfish in regards to being similar to a hit by the tail. A tough booger a neomorph seems to be.

A beautiful sentence! - :D :D

Thank you Ati. The morph is quite the impatient traveller.

It was the mystery comment...

When you say "himself" Ati, are you referring to a morph similar to what launches from Millburn's throat or the beauties seen on Planet 4?

David wrote in his notes that the black goo was a "glorious synthesis of the species" (or something close to that) and that reconciles with the parasitic/gaunt look of Ledward just before the back burster.

The organism sure appeared to synthesize everything from Ledward into a smaller organism that pushed out of the body and then it grew rapidly.

Is that the "himself" you're referring to. In that context, Oram produced quite a specimen himself. I assume Captain Oram would morph over time laying on the egg floor similar to the Space Jockey above and Dr. Shaw below.

Lol, Ingeniero, I don't know. Seriously. A strange comment.

I don't remember that comment, and I don't know why I put that image in it.

Did I make that comment? :D A mystery. I should delete it I think.

what I don't get, know that I think about it, is why did the neomorphs erupt from the parts of the body that they did. the first erupts from the middle of the back after the motes penetrate through the ear and the second through the mouth after the motes enter through the nasal cavity. surely it should have made more sense the other way around. the nasal cavity would have given the motes access directly to vital organs so id have expected that neomorph to have emerged from the chest/ back section but maybe just nit picking though it is easy to nit pick with this film lol

I don't think you're nit picking ali81. It is perfectly reasonable to question something happening different from the expected. The morph travel doesn't appear to be slowed down one bit when the facehugger penetrated Kane's helmet face shield, below. No hesitation is seen from the morph in speed due to a difficult material hurdle.

I believe I read that the Neomorph releases enzymes to melt the flesh and bone surrounding them in preparation for exit from the host. This enzyme release would explain Ledward's skin distortion on his back before the eruption and provide and answer as to how the neomorph prepares a way for itself to reach outside and start up the scream-wet crunch-then-silence party for each person it meets.

Nice to see this. We discussed this a bit before but this thread seems different in approach. The bursting is interesting to ponder as we see the burst through bones. I would think the critter would exit the easiest way possible- through muscle/fat/skin. It seems like it could get its feet on the inside of the rib cage and shoot out under shoulder blades and to to the side of the spine like below.
