i know that was such an enjoyable part of the BR and gave us some hints and clues to build on. A very enjoyable purchase was Prometheus BR.

Steelbook should be fine then i reckon !! Thanks

We all know there's behind the scenes stuff maybe it will be re released on an extended cut. That if fox lets him why he can't be left to make the movies he want without them sticking their noses in is beyond me he even says about in the commentary

Hi Sherris,

I bought the £19.99p 4K Ultra HD version and it does not include Advent and on the HMV website the steel book has the same menu as my copy. In addition it does not include the Crossing.

To go for the luxury high end output and not include either may or may not be a comment on David as the unreliable narrator. If you were not a member of this site or one of the other fan sites but simply went to the movie (the majority) it would suggest for that majority neither of those elements are part of the story or considered an important contribution IF Fox make the next film.

For me when David narrates in the film to Walter in the garden you can just feel the cut that Pietro referred to earlier this year. However when you then move to the sub pornographic fantasy drawings and the reveal of her cadaver thats the point where the movie indeed the entire series moves from engagement to a clinical study of a robot who will do anything say anything and none of it mean anything so the absence of both the Crossing and Advent is an interesting comment on the story values and character narrative that is holding the entire story together now.

sherris I got my steelbook yesterday and the case is cool, love its vintage metallic look. I think the extras you asked for are not there (not listed) but I cannot confirm yet as I need to buy a new BR player first.

I had to choose between bluray and steelbook and I chose the steelbook. I am happy I did it.

As Michelle Johnston said "neither of those elements are part of the story or considered an important contribution IF Fox make the next film."

"He survived, he’s now in Disneyland in Orlando, and no way am I going back there. How did he end up in Disneyland? I saw him in Disneyland, Jesus Christ!"

Michelle -

Thanks as usual for your bigger picture input.

I was simply looking for and struggling to find, an accompanying piece of footage which i believed to be very important as a fan who takes things a little further.

At first i thought it was a money thing. Someone wanted Advent exclusive to help sales and ask for more money.

However when you think of this and how I THOUGHT the inclusion of Advent was critical to keep fans in the loop.

Perhaps it is just something thrown together (yes it was) with the only reason to people please the fans with SOME footage they could cut into the piece using some mythos.

When in actual fact if you are lucky to find it on a released copy. Especially considering the high end is missing it. It does now make me think that it is just another trick to keep us distracted.

i think you are correct Michelle and i am so glad you took the time to post that as i think it is a very important angle.

Many Thanks & to u all ;)

@ Michelle - Did your 4K copy come with a second "standard" Blu-Ray version?

The Crossing, Advent etc. are all on this disc as part of the "Planet 4" sub menu (although they're not listed on the cover)

SenseOfDoubt

Very many thanks for this clarification. I am on holiday currently and have lent both discs to friends who were eagerly awaiting its release.

I will check it out when it is returned to me. To be honest when you first look at the extras menu they seem very thin. How odd to sub menu them under Planet 4. I happen to believe (now I know it is included) that Advent is important and so my perception that it was excluded was a reaction to its importance. Knowing it is in the public domain suggest this is the lead into W-Y. Maybe in the mayhem on Origae 6 David tries to escape with his babies and irony of ironies being infected, in away that has yet to be explained, in an act of redemption sets off the warning beacon which W-Y "ignore" whereas Ripley does not.

If W-Y are involved in the narrative of the next movie then I suspect they are also aware of the significance of the Jockey and its Cargo before boarding Ash on the Nostromo that of course has implications to the canon and aliens but to make the events of A L I E N and the prequels from W-Y POV coincidental after Advent seems highly unlikely.

It also opens the idea that the Jockey is a new entrant character from W -Y.

Thanks again, much appreciate your clarification.
