Fifield's Infection

Fifield's face shield melted and collapsed onto his face melting the skin beneath just before he fell forward into a pool of black goo.

Later, Sean Fifield showed inhuman strength and an acute situational awareness in placing himself just outside the door of the Prometheus ship in preparation to attack and try to kill the crew.

Sean Fifield showed neomorph-like ability without being born as a new organism when attacking the Prometheus crew.

The black goo most assuredly moved from the pool collected on the floor, to Fifield's saturated mask, into his burnt and broken skin, and most likely inhaled when gasping for air when his nose and mouth were sealed off from the molten acid black goo layer on his face.

And his pups continued on...

Ingeniero good stuff mate! One thing that bugged me with the theatrical release was that Fifield's helmet is in tact again when he returns to Prometheus.

At least in the deleted scene the face shield appeared to cling to his face/head like a transparent second skin??

Ingeniero - Brilliant short story! :D

Let me add my favourite Fifield image, the CGI Fifield. It's a huge mistake that this version appears only in the deleted files.

I actually enjoyed that deleted scene and thought the CGI was great!

IRaptus - I did not see your comment, but you got the answer. :D

Thank you IRaptus and Ati. Yes, I thought the deleted scene was great too and the CGI was nice (better mutation) dk. This, to myself, was much more impressive than what went into the theater cut with the burnt face.

IRaptus - His helmet is broken:

So it is, thank you Ati :) Must just be lighting in some spots that is throwing me off.

I didn't think Ridley would let something like that slip, hes very particular about continuity errors.

I have to say though, that would be one unpleasant way to die inhaling melting plastic covered in acid. Burning and suffocating across your eyes, throat + the horror of it.

Take it from someone who works with concentrated acids on a daily basis it, the shit is nasty, slower burning that you think (to start) but incredibly painful - like a cold frostbite kind of burn around it + sharp stinging on the exposure site.

Nice thread Ingeniero. I think you have the Fifield part backwards. His face shield was splashed with acid, then he fell into the black fluid, then when he got up face shield melted onto his face.

If you look close at the scene, tiny holes form over the mouth area of the shield as Fifield is screaming and he inhales. I think his contact was from inhaling, not necessarily skin contact.

We also have this report filed from David to Weyland from the Weyland website. I know that stuff is just loosely canonical and it contradicts the movie in places, but this graphic was meant to show the effects on Fifield's inhalation (left) and Holloway's ingestion (right) and basically follows what we see happen to them in the movie.

Fifield was infected with the pathogen that leaked from the urns onto the floor. The pathogen Holloway was infected with was from a different urn that was not leaking. The effects each had on the subject are completely different.

Kethol That's what I was gonna reference lol Fifield inhaled it.

Great catch Kethol. I was mashing my face in the images for too long and lost concentration. Thank you for the needed correction.

Really nice capture with the black goo on the mask.

I like how the graphic below details "confusion/shock" for up to an hour.

David 8 most certainly used a different mutagen/delivery system on the arrogant humanoids on Paradise.

Those below didn't have time to be confused and if they were it wasn't for a minute to an hour.

The times listed on that graphic do not really correspond to what we see in the movie, so take those with a grain of salt. Fifield was infected during the night and attacked the Prometheus later the next day. That time span could have been anywhere from 8-24 hours, but the effects go up to 37-50 hours on the chart.

The time from Holloway's infection to being burnt to a crisp was sometime in the 8-10 hour period but his effects are shown at 37-50 hours too. Shaw tells David that she had intercourse with Holloway "10 hours ago" in Prometheus, so it was more like 8.

Neither were alive that long after infection, but I suppose we could say those were simply David's guesses at the next stage of effects.

They should have used the CGI monster, the zombie was boring. I also believe that they should have had the worm scene in because it made the stupid scene make sense in a way.

Great still Ingeniero!

I like the fact that your articles contain several images/stills revealing something new - I mean, new for me.
