MemberFacehuggerAug-06-2017 7:41 AMAll i have to say is Poor Shaw and that David is one evil S.O.B. I want to see David taken down maybe his head ripped off and spinal cord snapped by an Engineer.
That scene when he was dissecting shaw creeped me out. Very interesting drawings though

MemberChestbursterAug-06-2017 10:05 AMI don't know why, when I saw David dissecting Shaw, I feel some weird sexiness in it. Some kind of sickening love.

MemberFacehuggerAug-06-2017 1:06 PMNo dude, just no. I can think of a few ways to describe what David was up to. Sexy isn't one lol.

MemberChestbursterAug-06-2017 3:31 PMDavid reminds me so much of H.R.Giger and his process. The drawings exemplify that. Jonesy, I felt the weird sexiness too lol

MemberFacehuggerAug-06-2017 3:49 PMJust watched this too, crazy that this type of stuff wasn't even included in the movie. He basically says that he is going to use Daniels to create a Queen (!) though, which I figured they wouldn't go there, but this pretty much confirms it. It is David taking to the company, and its showing his facehugger embryos, and then Daniels, as he says something like "one thing left, to create my queen" so.. there it is i guess.

MemberTrilobiteAug-06-2017 4:14 PMRIDINVAIl - You have no right to make such an assertion against an indvidual with whom you have no actual contact. Your accusation is unofounded and needlessly aggressive.

dk
MemberTrilobiteAug-06-2017 4:46 PMJonesy is correct on both counts for Advent and Silent Hill. Both deliberately have sexual imagery. It should be remembered that the series is influenced by HR Giger. As far as Silent Hill goes, one doesn't have to research very far to understand what Jonesy means. It is fine to have a difference of opinion but suggesting a psychiatric diagnosis and suggesting one has a criminal mind are not ok.

MemberTrilobiteAug-06-2017 5:06 PMThis is OT but relevant to a previous post regarding sexual imagery of both the Alien series and Silent Hill. For those whom may not understand about Silent Hill, here is a very basic example of the imagery:

MemberTrilobiteAug-06-2017 6:10 PMJOYLITT - Was it extremely graphic? I have been contemplating watching it. However, I am quite easily bothered by extreme violence and gore. :)

MemberNeomorphAug-06-2017 6:17 PMSomething Real Sorry I just hated it... autopsies being conducted with bare hands, and that clavichord soundtrack... please give me a break.

dk
MemberTrilobiteAug-06-2017 6:20 PMjoylitt Interesting. I enjoyed it and liked the graphic nature juxtaposed with David's matter of fact tone of his account. Would it have been better to have been a part of the theatrical version?

dk
MemberTrilobiteAug-06-2017 6:22 PMI don't think David had cause for concern with sterile or even aseptic technique in those conditions.

joylitt
MemberNeomorphAug-06-2017 6:25 PMdk Well, let me put it this way... if they wanted Alien Covenant to be really the last Alien movie in a very loooooooooooong time, they should have left it in the theatrical version. This was too much exposition, too much quirkiness, and in general too much nonsense that has anything to do with the Alien universe.

Something Real
MemberTrilobiteAug-06-2017 6:36 PMJOYLITT - I was not attempting to cause you displeasure, my friend. I honestly desired your opinion on the matter. I have not seen it. However, given your description of the scene, I will likely avoid it. I, too, am not a fan of intense gore.

dk
MemberTrilobiteAug-06-2017 7:03 PMI am unsure of who "they" are for making AC join up with Alien. Maybe Fox, but RS has been vague on that point.
Good point about having nothing to do with the Alien universe- I can get behind that since I want to see it come full circle before I am too old to care.
After tying it up, it seems they could do whatever they want imo. I personally would like to see it become an episodic series on a streaming channel instead of waiting years to see what happens next.

joylitt
MemberNeomorphAug-06-2017 7:15 PMdk Well "they" should be the team that convinced Fox that it was a good idea to go forward with this "Frankenstein experiment" that Covenant is. Now I want to point directly at Mr. John Logan (he wrote the Phobos short apparently, and probably this one too), a writer who has no business messing with Alien. I would suggest Mr. Logan to go read some good sci-fi books before attempting to write any sci-fi story. This is the same guy who already wrote 10 pages for Alien Awakening. Please go back to Bond or for a new season of Penny Dreadful, no more Alien please.

MemberFacehuggerAug-06-2017 9:15 PMThat was better than the whole movie, just what I wanted. I guess the plan was to parse this epic out in multiple installments. Not a fan of that unless expertly done. If he wraps it up with one final I just wish upon the stars it is suspenseful and uses creative writers(not Ridley's insta-ideas). It could be a masterpiece if the Android narrative is toned down some or put in proper context with Fassbinder's human counterparts. Allowing the actors to act like actual intelligent god fearing astronauts who are believable is all I want.

MemberFacehuggerAug-06-2017 10:41 PMBy 'queen' I'm not sure David means a queen like in Aliens. Couldn't he just be making a general reference to an egg-maker? Since he lost access to Shaw he needs a new supply of eggs which Daniels can now provide. I'm not sure he needs to create a large egg-laying queen Xeno to accomplish his goals.

MemberXenomorphAug-06-2017 10:56 PMWagner, Twilight of the Gods. It reminds me of the Island of Dr. Moreau with a Hannibal Lecter touch. Insane. Fortunately WY threatens David with something not disclosed in the video, that makes David continue: 'If you do this, there will be no turning back. My creatures shall be set loose to rule this Galaxy. ' How is he going to set them loose? Can they rule the Galaxy or just devour it?
I do hope WY finds a way to shutdown David or something else will happen to Daniels because I really don't want to see the huge alien ant queen again. I found it very lame to continue in this way. And David has to disappear. No more explicit pictures of his sick experiments, we got the godless point.

MemberXenomorphAug-06-2017 11:03 PMauximenes I hope you are right, it was my belief that Ridley Scott would never use the unfortunate concept of Cameron, but after seeing the Advent video it seems Fox would try again to please the fanboys. Don't get me wrong, I love Covenant and I stated it clearly even when mostly haters posted here. But the direction insinuated by the Advent video disappoints me deeply. It may be that Ridley Scott will not do another movie for the franchise. The Advent video seems far from his views.

If David would try to create a Giger-esque "perfect mother" that would be appropriate for the future of the franchise. Anything but the huge ant queen.
Not sure how Daniels would fit into a Giger frame, probably some colonist would better serve that purpose.

MemberOvomorphAug-07-2017 2:29 AMThe queen? Are you serious? David tells that black goo is AI particles. That means that facehuggers and xenomorphs created by David are biomechanoids with self-reproduce ability. What's the point of having queen?
Alien was biomechanoid, Aliens were insects. They could've chosen ONE. But they're trying to appease both who believe xenomorphs are insects and who believe they're autonomous biomechanoids. Fox and RS went completely WRONG way.
Ok. I won't be surprised if there are predators in the next movie
