MemberOvomorphJun-04-2017 3:32 PMIf Ridley Scott drops his EGO and they bring Ripley (post Aliens) back, she will save the franchise like she's saved humanity time and again. If she is in it, the film will do well over $100mm domestic, $400mm worldwide and bring the true wonder woman and action star back! 20th century will turn a great profit too.

AdminPraetorianJun-04-2017 6:16 PMEh, as much as I love Ripley I think her time is over, her story has been told. I don't want to see her nor anyone else from the old movies back. I didn't love Prometheus or Covenant, but I certainly didn't think they were horrible. I thought they went into an interesting direction, or at least tried to.
@cabin flutist yacob wagner You'll do the fingering I see, lol. xx

MemberOvomorphJun-04-2017 9:23 PMI would love it. A recurring character has worked out fine for the Mission Impossible series, Raiders, James Bond, etc.....

MemberChestbursterJun-04-2017 9:39 PMRipleys story is over. In my opinion it was over from the end of alien 3. If I had it my way, alien ressurection would be completely erased. I also really liked covenant and was fine with promethous.
A suitable continuation of the franchise would follow Amanda Ripleys seeking vegance on the wetland yutani corp.

MemberDeaconJun-05-2017 7:43 AMBut then also how does she fit in with the Prequels?
But i do actually think FOX will be considering this...
I would not be surprised if they go the route of Ripley being a 12 year Old Colonist on the Covenant who plays the Newt of this movie as the Covenant is changed into a Hadleys Hope in Space.
At the end of the movie we then go to Modern Day Ripley (Miss Weaver) set in the year say 2204, where she either wakes from a Nightmare... Hicks by her side and she says this one is not a Nightmare like the others, it seems a memory from my past.
Or have her in a Psychiatric Ward where she has a One to One with a Hypnotherapist where they then say it appears this latest Nightmare is not a Dream like the others you keep having but a Actual Memory.
Then Hicks breaks her out... saying... "The company has got its hands on one of those Alien Ships"
This brings us to Alien 5 set about 25 years after the events of Aliens
TRUST ME... i can see FOX maybe thinking about something like this now.

MemberChestbursterJun-05-2017 7:45 AM@BD and unfortunately, given all the CGI "deageing" we are seeing now (Jack Sparrow younger in the new movie, Tarkin, Leia, etc...) we would be guaranteed to see a "fake" Sigourney at some point. To me, those CGI processes just aren't good enough yet, and it nearly ruins the film(s) for me when I see it.
So...NO MORE RIPLEY, NEWT, or and other older character rehashes...

MemberChestbursterJun-05-2017 8:12 AMIm not for Ripley return. Hicks,Newt etc.. I just think we have enough holes as it is, this situation would be detrimental to the franchise. Just my opinion though. I can see the point made and Fox execs arent the cleverest so who really knows?
Young Ripley/Child Ripley i will accept NP if it fits the TL
(Shouldnt have to put the last 5 words but u never know!)

MemberDeaconJun-05-2017 8:32 AMI think with Jack Sparrow it is not so bad as Depp does not look much older and the Movie Franchise is not to old... But Alien Franchise is old... Miss Weaver has aged 30+ years (Since Aliens) and while she looks good for her Age, i think to make her look younger would be Expensive.... Terminator Genisys the T-800 looked Good Enough, but to have this on-screen all the time so say if Arnold Schwarzenegger was to be played De-aged CGI all the way through we would notice its not Quite Realistic and it would be Expensive.
The only way they can pull off a Ripley is they need to have her Aged 10-15 years younger than she is at the time Weaver is Cast to do another Movie. If they Shoot a Alien Movie with Weaver in 3 years she would be 70 years old and so they could get away with a Ripley aged about 55 years old.. any younger and they would need CGI that could be hit/miss and if they want her to appear about 40 or in her 40's it would be even more hit/miss and expensive.
So if Miss Weaver is to be brought back and shoot a movie over the next 2-3 years then it would have to be set in the Timeline of 2195 at the very least. Then that would be a push to have Ripley as a 53-55 year old.
A more Realistic way would be to have the Movie set 100 years after the events of Covenant where the Protomorph was Born... this would mean the year 2204 and i think Miss Weaver can get away with being 25 years older than she was in Aliens.
However i agree... i dont think we need to see Ripley again.

MemberDeaconJun-05-2017 8:38 AMI seriously think FOX deem Alien Resurrection as a bit of a Disappointment.... And i do think they would have entertained bringing Ripley Back by the Method similar to Blomkamps where Alien 3 and Alien R never happened.
RS had convinced them to finish his Prequels instead... but with AC not doing as well as they liked.... i do think while they Panicked and thought we need the ALIENS back.. and this never worked they would indeed now be tempted to bring back RIPLEY and the Queen.
It would just not make sense in the Next Movie unless we have a Young Ripley, but then this would mean No Miss Weaver... would FOX feel its the Ripley Character that Sells? or Miss Weaver? And there is no way they can have Miss Weaver on the Covenant as a Older lady and so say Ripleys Grandmother because a Covenant Colony Mission would surely not be taking OAP's! who cant not begin a new Family.
Having a Young Ripley could work, having a David's Soul in a Walters Body Chest Bursting Bio-Mechanical Egg Laying Queen could work.
Not the way i would go however...

MemberChestbursterJun-05-2017 8:59 AMI don't mind they make a comeback, but how? They are all dead (except Ripley).

MemberTrilobiteJun-05-2017 9:38 AMBD- those are a lot of iffs ands and buts to accomodate Ripley again. Bringing her in as a girl in a prequel gives it a destiny vibe that wasn't even hinted at in Alien. I think the best way to continue after prequels is to go the Amanda route ala Isolation.

MemberOvomorphJun-05-2017 6:30 PMI believe there's still room in the Alien movies series for someone human who is still around to tell the "Tale of the Xenomorphs". Ridley has killed off most of the crews in the past two films. Only Weyland Corp and the Androids seem to know what is going on. Maybe you could craft a story about an aging space explorer on some colony planet that's been following the Xenomorphs and maybe the Engineers for some time. Wouldn't have to be a huge role and I'm sure Sigourney Weaver would be amenable. At some point though we need to make a rule - if you've been killed off in a previous Alien movie, you're not coming backing back!
