I just got back from seeing it and to be honest.. it was meh, too predictable...

Ridley messed up by getting rid of the engineers too soon and bringing in the Xenomorph in too fast..

I think a sequel with Shaw and David exploring paradise, the engineers and their culture, and the mystery of the black goo was more plausible than this movie...

This movie was like when Drake dropped Views, aka a letdown.

With that being said, I hope the next one will be better and FOX doesn't pull the plug.

David was kind of like a drama queen in this movie... I guess all those years alone really got to him

My condolences. Now let the disappointment set in. That's the hardest part.

Anyway, I'm going to buy the Blu-ray, that's for sure, I do not care much about the storyline since first time I watched it, the only really appeals to me was the setting and sountrack, the artist design is amazing and Scott knows how to do better than nobody, good actings, some shoots have a very wide perspective and wide-angle lens (perspective=object) is amazing, even more than Prometheus. Denitely AC is just a strange mix between gothic and retrofuturistic style for our viewing pleasure and hooking me up, maybe will take time to get it.

Roger55 Did you notice a flashing light (a sort of a beacon) in the distance by the water, during the scene in which the explorers are hiking uphill, heading towards the crashed juggernaut? Was that supposed to be there?

is a creepy shoot, who knows? It looks like a bright light or just like a faint warning sign. Interesting, it seems done with some purpose, or maybe is a simple lens flare on the water.

You'd seen it before or you found it after I told you?

You would think at least one engineer would have survived, been in the toilet at the time of destruction or a child elsewhere, maybe its the Last Engineer.

there must be at least one of these movies that will actually focus on the engineers at some point in length and detail. theyv had what, all of 15-20 mins screen time in over 4 movies and these r the dudes who were meant to be our creators

Shaw died from goo sperm infection driving David nuts in turn. Ridley driven this bus with us in it straight into the ditch. Pretentious and terrible story telling.

The Flashing light in the distance is the lander they arrived on.

I can not see the image in Question so i cant comment on that

The movie had problems but i think i know why it had problems and i have covered this a number of times.

*People did not feel any connection to Prometheus Characters, hence AC gave us a slower build up to help us make some connection to the Crew and their Plight.

*This and the Neomorph Scenes took up a lot of the movie, and was when the Movie was going very well.

*This meant less time to present David and who he was and why he was there for those who never saw Prometheus, they had to loosely cover David/Shaw and Prometheus/Engineers rather than ignore it.... this all took up another set of screen time.

*Then having the need for a Twist Ending, and introducing TWO Xenomorphs, simply meant they did not have time to showcase a Xenomorph Life Cycle longer as then they would have to add a extra sat 15-20 minutes of movie to cover what David, Walter, Daniels and others are up to and explain why they would not ponder where Oram had got to.  And so Speeding up the Gestation/Growth Rate was Necessary for the Plot.

*Xenomorph scenes had been cut down to get the movie down to 2 hours and also maybe get a R/Cert 15 and also maybe have it not shown as much....

The movie could not have covered more about Prometheus, gave a more realistic Xenomorph Gestation/Growth Rate and gave us a slower build up.

The movie needed....

Extra $50M Budget, Extra 3-4 Months Production and a Extra 45-50 Minutes Run Time.

Needed to not give so much away in Trailers/TV Spots...

But this was done so FOX can advertise to people that "LOOK ITS A ALIEN MOVIE" For fans who may think oh no this is going to be a boring Prometheus 2

FOX/RS had Gauged fans reactions to Prometheus and then seeing the interest in Blomkamps Alien 5, it appears FOX felt that they needed to make a more Alieny Movie and that Fans did not want/need to know about Shaw/Engineers and that it has to be about the XENOMORPH

I dont expect to see much about Shaw or the Engineers, apart from David maybe mentioning them a little bit...  But if FOX feel a lot of Fans was disappointed we never got to see much about Engineers and Shaw... maybe we can get more of them.

But i think FOX are looking at the wider % of the Fanbase, which Sadly does push more towards ALIENS and i also think they are looking at what would get the Casual None Alien Fans to go and see the movie... and so Sadly i think the Engineers will not be covered again.

But if David goes to LV-223 then this would allow for some more clues to be explained to fill in some of them Engineer Answers as far as what connection the Engineers/Black Goo had and why it was to be used.

As far as what else the Engineers created, their history, their creators how they fitted into all Ancient Mythos and Religions and exploring their Agenda and Culture that Mankind on Earth was only a Fraction of..... Will Sadly never be covered.

@BigDave

I fear the worst, it seems as if the script had stalled in David / Shaw, has moved away quite a bit from his original idea, I do not go into details as to the script, I will try to be polite. The runing time is good at first, (space yourney I meaning) and an ending unfortunetly too short.
