That is my theory Davefried81. This sequence will be part of Alien: Awakening. I listened to what Ridley Scott said over and over at the beginning of the footage.

maybe awakening is already made, and its mainly david with engineers learning how to use the black goo. This could be what turns him really bad, must be a really bad engineer he runs into.

@Babylonxeno I think you may be right. Waterston has had to "shush" Ridley several times on this subject, interestingly, so I think there's a huge surprise coming, and it isn't "just" A:C...A:A is soon!

Wasn't it stated that they would begin shooting that next year? I think this is just a stand-alone prologue to Alien: Covenant. It might be set in the same timeframe as Alien: Awakening will be set, but I doubt they will use these shots in that final movie if they haven't even started shooting the rest of it. :-)

Ingeniero - I think we can agree David clearly stole Shaws hair care products while he was in her duffle bag.  Even as just a head he has nice hair.

On a serious note.  I think Shaw is really sick.  No one else noticed but she is sweating ALOT (her skin glistens in the light) yet covered in a blanket and cold.  Her hair is disheveled and she looks like she is struggling.

I am confused. It is billed as an AC prologue but is actually about AA? If true, how does David get repaired between Prometheus and AA?

There will be a number of Flash Backs that cover David and Shaw and the Re-attaching of the Head and Bombard are just some of these Flash Backs.

There is 40-45 Minutes of Footage that has not been touched upon by any of the Trailers and Official Licensed and Allowed stuff...    as far as prior to Today.

Something i noticed with Prometheus that we maybe overlooked.... that answers a lot..

Prometheus Arrived at LV-223 on Christmas Day we can assume it had to be Christmas Day because Janek got the Christmas Tree out and Holloway said its Christmas and he wants to open his presents.

So the Briefing that Holloway and Shaw gave to the Crew (Star Map) and then setting off to the Complex the first time is set December 25th 2093

Yet when Shaw gives her SOS the date is January 1st 2104

Thats a whole WEEK after they first arrived and set Foot on LV-223 to when they left... or maybe not?

I would assume Shaw got the Equipment to Repair David somewhere and its not Engineer Technology, as well as the Robe and Pen and Paper, and not forgetting different Clothing David has in this and also in AC.

They must have either.

1) Salvaged from the Lifeboat?

2) Found stuff in the wreckage of the Prometheus?

Or Obtained it from another Ship... but how and when?

Shaws Hair Growth is more than 7 Days worth its actually about 9-12 Months worth.

The only logical explanation (avoids bad research and writing would be).

They Salvage stuff from the Prometheus Wreckage...

David without his Head can operate the Ship to get into Space and during the journey Shaw grows enough to trust David and Repairs him, then this feature she asks how long it will take to get to where they are going with Longer Hair, No way she would ask such a thing and then go into Cryo-sleep after floating in Space for 9 Months plus.

Also where do they get the Earth looking Star Map Chart and Plot Navigation just as we would now...

Why not use the Engineers Technology?

I wonder if these things was in the earlier Drafts or if this is John Logans Writing, as if it is well it makes Lindeloffs more Coherent

But we cant Jump the Gun yet, maybe there is a explanation...

Maybe they went to LV-426 first? maybe a Ship arrived there first that only David knew about?  they then got the stuff from a Human Ship there... but this raises so many more potential Plot Flaws... unless they dont discover the Derelict.

"suspension of disbelief" is required for ALL movies, not just this one. Let it flow, and enjoy it for what it is, without overanalyzing. Your life is more important than that, surely?

This Prologue video goes with something I had suspected and mentioned on a couple of other threads..... I felt that David with his knowledge of Engineer language and tech would be able to get answers and learn a lot about them from the juggernaut while they travel. ....my original hypothesis I posted on another thread is David uses this knowledge he learns through the ship to give Shaw her answers long before they arrive at Paradise. It made more sense to me than them confronting actual Engineers and asking questions, I mean from a logical standpoint interacting in a conversation with them would be futile. The last time one was attempted with Engineers people lost their heads and many people died, so her thinking she could go there and get answers is almost like a worthless sacrifice of her life just on principle.

i felt David would get her answers or enough info on the trip so that they would come to the conclusion of attempting to kill the engineers would be the best choice. I felt that they may kill Shaw off with their defensive measures possibly with the scorpion ship and the fact she died and the dark things he learned of the Engineers and their intentions would lead David to become the mad scientist.

after watching this it appears that David did learn things about the Engineers on the trip while Shaw slept. The things he learned pushed him in the direction of bombing th so perhaps their intentions of true galactic purpose was evil and dark. Shaw may still die in the crash but I still think he is find of Shaw even this video shows as much. 

I still feel he becomes evil with a god complex but he is The Hannibal Lector to Shaw's Clarice

How bad can the engineers be though? They were going to wipe earth out, ok, thats bad, but david and shaw know that and seem to have let it go during their journey. I can only imagine they get intercepted along the line and are secretly working for the engineers all along, since they want to wear their robes and play with their goo.

does it make sense that they are looking forward to meeting them, still, and them decide to wipe them out? Maybe they are 'given' the planet to 'play' with by the big bad david meets in space.

I believe the hologram sequence that we saw before is a recording of the below sequence where Dr. Shaw and David 8 are working together.

Dr. Shaw appears to be smiling the exact same way in both the hologram and the image below it of the actual event recorded.

I had questioned why Dr. Shaw continued to look up during the hologram sequence and that is explained by her communicating with David 8 in the Engineer pilot's seat.

After seeing how David 8 took such care of her once she repaired him, I now believe that she could be alive somewhere safe or in hypersleep because David 8 put her there. Who knows but I don't think he killed her off now.

I does look like both Dr. Shaw and David 8 both dipped into the Engineers' wardrobe.

My theory is that she is alive, maybe in a jerry rigged hypersleep capsule, or on another ship, underground on the planet. That would mean she would try and get off the planet. 

The covenant crew only seem to get affected on the planet if they disrupt the spores, otherwise the air is breathable, so shaw could easily survive, but would david let xenos off the leash if they would harm elizabeth?

In his introduction to The Crossing, Sir Ridley described it as a bridging sequence between Prometheus and Alien [Covenant] 

The impression I got was that it would be included in Covenant.

Lets assume for a moment, that Dr. Shaw survives in the movie, but remains in hypersleep. Could the title Alien: Awakening for the next movie be referring to Shaw's awakening from hypersleep and possibly meeting with Engineers in the next movie? We shall soon find out if she survives.

I am sure David spoke with the plastinated engineer prior to him being dissected.  I still think Shaw is sick.  Maybe the trilobite infection did something to her body causing her to get sick.  Also didn't they have a quick dialogue before he put her to sleep about them "as long as they are not worse" than humans?

Rick seeing her in the cinema, Shaw did indeed look poorly, she was sweating, hard dark patches around and under her eyes and appeared pretty dishevelled!
