Scorponaut or Stingernaut

But if I had a choice, Scorponaut would be the best I think.

One question I have is, where is the Scorponaut now? did it leave, crash or was it destroyed? Hmm!

LOL i would not say i coined the Scorpionaught lol, others referred it to a Scorpion so i just added the naught to the end lol, but i would assume others had also came up with the same.

We really dont know what this Craft is at he moment, There really is only TWO Options.  Maybe 3!

1) As per Cinemacon Description this is some kind of Docking Device, but what purpose?  Why would the Hanger be opening if the ship is meant to dock with the Scorpion Ship/Dock.

Also it cant be whats needed to deploy the Weapons because surely why would the Engineer had tried to take the Juggernaught to Earth, we have to assume the Ship can drop its Bio-Weapon on its own... or alternatively it must be a Suicide Craft. (Juggernaught).

2) Another Engineer Ship, but then we have to ask where did this come from, its unlikely it came from the Hanger and then we have to ask is it Automated? Is it controlled by Engineers on that World... which would not bold well for David and his plans.

Or was it obtained from another Place by David and he and Shaw are thus in control of TWO ships.. a LOT DEPENDS on which Ship is doing the Bombardment.

3) Maybe indeed some Mother Ship but then a Mothership would imply the Juggernaught must connect and be able to be carried by this Ship in some way, the only way this could play in role as far as a Mother Ship would be similar to this

where the Scorpion Ship would have to be at least Twice the Size of the Juggernaught to be classed as any kind of Mother Ship.   Which by my calculations i think it would fit that bill, but then we have to ask why would this be needed by David?

It is an interesting detail. The ship matches the shape of the Juggernaut and derelict crafts, but not the oval ship from the start of Prometheus. The center piece of the city however is circular, which to me would be more welcoming to a circular / oval ship, rather than the crescent moon shaped ships. 

The positioning of this mother ship also is opposite to how the Juggernauts operate. Could it be in the midst of crashing like the Juggernaut in Prometheus?

Looking at the overall ship size and shape it doesn't look like it could house a bunch of Juggernauts. It has one large hanger bay it looks like but beyond that the ship is very thin. It's hard to say.

I think what we are seeing is the homeworld of Skutters. Skutters from Red Dwarf.In Covenant this could be the Queen Skutter.  Or, how about Skutternaut?

I'm wondering if it's just sitting there as a reminder to the people on the planet that their "gods" watch over them, hence the temple etc.

Maybe it's a weapons defense platform which activates once the city starts being bombed, hence the crashed Juggernaut.

@AdamPD, those are really good possibilities. It is definitely absent by the time the Covenant arrives so it's not a stationary object. A weapon system is likely. It does seem to be positioned in the direct center of the city. So, it could be a Godly monument. 

Notice how besides this one city, it's insinuated that there are no other clusters of Engineer reserves on the planet? Perhaps this giant ship provided some kind of life force. It's far fetched but it's an interesting thing to take note of as well.

Reminds me of a type of crab, with its smaller claw and larger claw.

So going by tradition, the portmanteau would be crabnaut.

Thats a very good point Chris, such a Race that even appears only as Advanced as this Civilization (but they look a bit more advanced now we see like Skyscrapers) would surely inhabit other parts of this World?

We dont know if there are other locations for these beings, we dont know if David and Shaw got the Scorpionaught from another location, i think its hard to say.

I will however say its safe to assume this Location is the only one that has a City, because looking at this Civilization we have to ask WHERE did the Scorpion Ship come from?  And if there are other Cities, is this one we see in AC the only one with a Hanger and Technology.

Because if David and Shaw arrive and attack a prior City, surely they could maybe warn the others, of if this is the first Attack then maybe others get a warning?

Regardless of this we have to remember that David is the Sole Inhabitant when the Covenant Arrives and so there are no other beings alive on the Whole Planet.

We dont know if this is Paradise, but the intention was to arrive at Paradise prior to John Logans draft and Ridley and other had mentioned this place is the Engineers Homeworld.

If we consider Paradise, this was a Place on Earth that was the Cradle of Civilization within Paradise was the Garden of Eden a Peaceful and Tranquil place Created in Paradise for Gods Creation Mankind (Adam and Eve) to live on, where they have everything they ever need...  Food, do not need Shelter or Clothes so the Climate was good.

Adam and Eve would have spend their whole lives (which some interpretations was eternity) in this Garden of Eden, needing nothing, they was watched over and Guarded by Gods Cherubim Caste of Angels.   All they had to do was show grace, respect and worship to their creator and obey his rules and to not do anything that was forbidden.

But they did not do this as they was tricked into performing a Forbidden Task.  and expelled from Paradise.

MY POINT?

Gods Creation, Adam and Eve would have been Watched over within the confines of the Garden of Eden in Paradise, they would have been watched by Cherubim who was tasked to make sure Adam and Eve are watched over, and do not break Gods Rules and to Make sure No-One Enters the Garden of Eden.

Now in context to the Franchise, Paradise is not a Place near Syria and Iraq on Earth, it is a Planet... But still this could fit with the Biblical accounts, in that this Paradise Planet had a Specific Place that was like the Garden of Eden, that the Engineers Hierarchy Creation are given to Dwell on, watched over by the lower Caste (Engineers).

And so it could be that this Courtyard Area and City was the place that the Hierarchy had put aside for these beings to live on, this place is the only place they are allowed to stay so they can be monitored and watched over.

This Biblical Connection as far as the Cradle of Creation being restricted to one specific Area, does make it easier to watch over them.

If we take Planet of the Apes as a Example and Mankind does experiment on Primates and Evolve them, it would be ideal if we did so on a secluded Island, where we can watch over them and also Monitor just how far they evolve and what knowledge they are able to gain...

We could keep them in check, but if they was allowed to spread over the World, this would be harder to monitor and influence them.

 Since the ends look a bit like crab claws, how bout craponaut.... errm ... crabonaut?

Since black goo will never get a better name, may as well call it Black Goo Venom Stinger Ship or some other stupid $hit.

Taken into account the U Shape of the Ships, and i have tried and not made a great job lol, of trying to show the Profile of the Ship from a more Direct Flat Angle.

I simply Put a Giant U and adjusted the Ship to layer over it.

Not a great attempt but at least now, we can maybe wonder how would the Juggernaught Connect bearing in mind it appears the Juggernaught is 40-50% Smaller.

The Bombardment Scene is the only Logical Explanation to the Area the crew enter the Juggernaught from, i cant think of a better explanation to this Large Hole that they enter that had connecting Doors.

Given the Dock'o'Naughts position on the planet, right above a huge, central area, with a temple and the circular opening with the head statues of possible Elder engineers

I bet this planet is Paradise to the Engineers because it's their "success" planet, meaning no wars, no conflict, unlike planets like ours, where we killed prophets, this planet embraced them and followed the guidance of the elder engineers.

So the dock'o'naught has been a permanent fixture for a while, so the elder engineers can come back every xx years, dock, then speak to the crowds below from their ship.

Once a ship docks, the gates and temple open for the people to flock into the central area to look up to their gods, which happens when David and Shaw dock.

This might explain why this eradication of Paradise might be mankind's undoing, the engineers come back and find a desolate planet, their prized creation destroyed and instead replaced with vicious monsters, everything they despise in a creation.

And they figure out it was humanity which was ultimately responsible, triggering a war.

The eggs we see in the trailers, are Davids creation, perhaps by using Shaw as a queen alien/human hybrid, ick!

They're loaded onto a BomberNaught (Juggernaut), to be sent to earth to finish the job, but the pilot gets infected and crashes into LV426.

The experimental facility in Prometheus was to be used to cleanse planets of failed experiments such as earth.
