I've only seen the '33 and '05 versions along with King Kong Escapes and King Kong vs Godzilla. I was thinking about going out to fye and seeing what Kong films they have in stock. Personally interested in  Son of Kong and the 70s remake. What are your favorite Kong films? And are there any good knock of film? I've seen Mighty Joe Young, Konga, and Mighty Peking Man (all kind of dissapointing).

The only one I've seen most of was the original, which I thought was pretty good. I've seen a few parts of the 2005 one, but it looks like a good movie from what I've seen.

(imo Son of Kong was a really bad movie.)

Which Mighty Joe Young did you see, the original 1949 version or the 1998 remake?  In my opinion, the original Mighty Joe Young is a worthy spiritual successor to the original King Kong.

Son of Kong isn't bad, but it's really just a rushed sequel trying to cash-in on the success of the original. It's still charming in its own way. I've always been a fan of the 1976 remake, though I regard it as inferior to the 1933 and 2005 versions.

I guess my personal favorite Kong film is probably the 1933 original, followed by King Kong vs. GodzillaKing Kong Escapes and King Kong (2005) all close behind. There's not really a Kong film I actually dislike, though I by no means consider King Kong Lives to be a good film.

I have a lot of love for the insanity in King Kong Escapes. I think it's one of Honda's best "balls-to-the-wall" action pictures, and way more fun than the 1970 remake and its sequel.

That said, I enjoy the '76 Kong more than the '05 Kong for its stronger flare of fantasy. Still, nothing has topped the original film. It's still an astounding adventure film today.

I don't use this often, but the original is pretty much a masterpiece. It will be hard to ever top that one.

Kong and Godzilla were always my two favorite giant monsters.

The original is King; no pun intended. It's the granddaddy of fantasy adventure films and probably more responsible for getting more people involved in filmmaking, special effects, creative writing, set design/art, etc. than just about any other film.

The '05 remake is right behind. It's a loving remake by a true fan of the original, and one hell of a fun movie. Skull Island is as much a character as it was in the original; a primordial, dangerous place that can kill you a hundred different ways. Many nice nods to the original as well. One of its criticisms, which didn’t really bother me - Jackson should have been more judicious in the editing room for the theatrical version. I think it would have done better on its release. I absolutely love the extended version.

When the '76 remake came round, I was thoroughly excited, but then equally let down by the deviations from what made the original so special. Where were the prehistoric creatures and fantastical elements? We have Kong, a large constrictor, and a run of the mill tropical island! Nothing overly unique. Very disappointing. Some good things? I felt for Kong and really got behind the character. Rick Baker, who is an amazing talent at everything he does, pulled of a pretty damn good "man in a suit" performance. He would go on to perfect his ape suits/masks in subsequent films. I was 13-14 when it came out, so being introduced to a young Jessica Lange was kinda special!

Son of Kong was far inferior to it's Daddy, and was a quick cash grab, but it's fun, and sad, nonetheless.

The original Mighty Joe Young is a must-see. Very different from Kong, but well done and entertaining. It's the movie Ray Harryhausen cut his teeth on, and got his amazing career going.

KKVsG and KKE are outrageous, but fun. I'm partial to KKVsG. A thoroughly entertaining movie that blew my socks off when I first saw it around age 7 or 8. Although the fights are pure pro wrestling, the end fight is one of the best of the whole series, and the two beat the piss out of each other and just keep coming back for more.

Looking forward to K:SI. Looks to be a whole of fun and I love what appear to be nods to the original and KKVsG.
