Who will fight King Kong in Kong: Skull Island

MemberNoobOct-28-2016 9:43 PMWho do you think King Kong will face in the movie? I'm thinking maybe a Mantis, Spider, giant Tyrannosaurus Rex, something like Gabara, Ebirah, Giant Octopus, big snake, Rodan or another Kong.

MemberNoobOct-30-2016 3:19 PMIn the trailer, there's 12 helicopters and a small/medium aircraft carrier. Monarch is probably sending Kong to kill Godzilla. I don't see a declare man King over Kong thing. Are they only going to collect/find berries/plants and missing explorers? I read something about that. I don't know if it's true.
A small military convoy to fight Kong isn't going to make me happy. I see they're other creatures that will probably kill off the "survey crew". This movie doesn't seem exciting. Maybe there's a big octopus to drink berry juice again. I hope there's a water/land Kaiju. Octopus, Lobster, Walrus, Seal.. Which land and water Kaiju might fight Kong? Is there Kingish Water/Land Kaiju?
Ahh, King Kong must be waking up for something. Put my money on Kong. I hope it isn't the berries being taken.
There's King Crab, King Kappa.
- asdfghjkl I'm pretty sure I just keep on repeating other comments.. Ahh must of been avpgalaxy..

AdminLegendOct-30-2016 9:27 PMKong fighting some other creature is normally status-quo in his movies, so I'm sure we can expect some sort of battle between monsters.
Honestly, the closer this movie gets the more excited I am about it. It's nice to see a reboot of Kong do away with the typical "beauty and the beast" story line and go somewhere new.

KK and Godzilla were always my two favorite giant monsters growing up, and I'm thrilled they're expanding this particular universe. I'll be there opening night.

There was a giant Triceratops skull in one of the trailers, so there's possibly living prehistoric creatures or animals resembling prehistoric creatures living on Skull Island, we'll most likely be seeing other things besides Kong and the giant spider. King Kong will probably end up fighting one or two of these creatures.

The King of the Monsters
MemberInitiateOct-31-2016 1:49 PMGiven the movie's plot synopsis, I'm tempted to think that Kong's opponent in the film could be something akin to Gaw from the novel Kong: King of Skull Island. For those who are unfamiliar, King of Skull Island is both a sequel and prequel to the 1933 film authorized by the estate of Merian C. Cooper that goes into depth about the origins of Kong and how he became the islanders' god. In the novel, there is a monster called Gaw, which is essentially a huge tyrannosaurus/raptor hybrid that leads an army of deadly intelligent raptor-like creatures called Slashers. Gaw was the god worshiped by the Skull Islanders before Kong. Gaw had previously killed Kong's parents right in front of him, and Kong eventually killed Gaw and took her place as the king of Skull Island.
Now, especially given the fact that the novel's creator Joe DeVito is suing Legendary for allegedly stealing his ideas for the movie, I don't think the likelihood of Gaw herself appearing in the movie is very high, not to mention that by now she would probably be seen by some as a ripoff of the Indominus Rex from Jurassic World. However, I think that an enemy akin to Gaw would be perfect for this movie. Legendary describes the movie as telling the story of "how Kong became King," implying that it will be showing how he becomes the dominant creature on Skull Island. For this reason, in my opinion it would be an interesting twist for there to be a much more malevolent and vicious beast living on the island that Kong eventually battles and kills at the film's end. If this creature happens to be responsible for the deaths of Kong's family or species like Gaw, it could provide some valuable character development and motivation for Kong outside of the typical "beauty and the beast" angle that this movie is avoiding. I could also get behind the idea of this monster having an army of smaller minions like the Slashers from the novel, providing a capable enemy for the human characters to fight while Kong battles the larger creature.
Either way, I guarantee Kong will be battling at least one other creature in this movie.

"A quick Google search for “enlil cedar forest” gives us a brief history of Sumerian religion, but what’s important is that the Sumerian god Enlil created a monster named Humbaba to guard the Cedar Forest, the home of the gods, so that no human would try to get up to any shena****ns. Could Humbaba be the name of the giant skeleton in the poster? Is this what the team of MONARCH researchers are hoping to find?"

I didn't want a triple post. I fixed all three up. My phone was acting up.
I was imagining Gorosaurus, Manda, a Giant Octopus, a head and neck of Gidorah, one of the seal looking things, a water dragon, a fish and this Humbaba. What are you guys seeing? Google images had a Humbaba picture depicting his body with serpents. I still feel that I'm going to be in the dumps without a Kong vs. Equal/almost equal size monster battle.
I like the Gaw idea. Also Joe DeVito suing Legendary for allegedly stealing his ideas for the movie has me feeling happy but, the adolescent super species writing has me in the dumps again.
I love the post King of the Monsters. I still do think there's going to be a battle. My thought is King Kong waking up like the Mutos. I'm remembering TOHO movies where Earth people see Kaijus sleeping but I don't have proof. Maybe it was in my dreams. I thinking of swatting everything off my desk if it's the survey crew waking King Kong up.

MemberNoobNov-03-2016 4:00 PMI think King Kong needs to be a proven fighter before getting in the ring with Godzilla. There should be a Kaiju battle for him in the film but maybe it will happen early on in the Godzilla vs. King Kong movie. The Gaw stuff prior to Kong Skull island could also work I think.
