Will 20th Century Fox debut the first teaser trailer for Alien: Covenant at this year's 2016 Comic-Con convention? Considering the Prometheus sequel releases next summer, it would make a lot of sense for Fox to take advantage of this year's Comic-Con to get a jump on the film's promotional marketing. Not to mention, Fox's pressense at Comic-Con for Prometheus was a huge hit - models dressed up as Weyland scientists and bodybuilders hired on and painted to look like Engineers. It drew a lot of attention and helped the film get massive exposure to the right crowds.

I'm wondering if Fox are planning something similar for Alien: Covenant this year. Filming for Covenant is expected to continue to at least the end of July, so filming won't even be complete by the time Comic-Con rolls around, but perhaps they've got a concept teaser or will have added some early CGI to existing footage from the shoot in Australia? It's certainly possible and personally, I'm hoping we get something this summer.

I remember the summer before Jurassic World released, Universal chose to not show anything new for Comic-Con and instead give out posters (of which I missed out on every time lol). Fans were slightly disappointed, myself included.

Given Prometheus' history with regards to impressive and extensive marketing, one can assume Fox will continue this trend with Alien: Covenant. What do you guys think? Are any of you attending Comic-Con this year?

I wonder when we will see the first trailer to Alien Covenant, that will be interesting.

I would be shocked if they did, or said nothing. I fully expect to see a teaser trailer.

Yeah, I fully expect them to show something. Hopefully it's a very subtle teaser that doesn't show much at all. I'd even be happy with another fictional TED talk video, or something similar.

Having only started main shooting 3 weeks ago who knows.... a report on the internet from Australia seems to indicate that Ridleys shooting of Alien Covenant in New Zealand went well and had little impact on the environment i.e from Production Crew Vehicles (i.e track and other effects on Landscape).  it went on to say how the production is benefiting the area financially etc

Its also said about how shooting HAD gone well at Sydney Fox studios...

I will have to see if i can dig out that report, but it seems to hint that quite a lot of work and shooting had already been done during the first 2-3 weeks.

So looking at Prometheus if we are looking at same number of days of Principal photography then other shots latter after the main shooting then a start to finish would be over a 4 month period and so by End of July maybe 80% of the shooting should be done?

Then its how long it would take to use such footage and put it onto a teaser trailer?

But i would certainly expect to see a teaser poster or two with some teaser tag lines. That may be relevant to the Plot.

As far as any CGI i would assume this stuff would be worked on in post Production and so it would be unlikely much would be ready for any of the Summers Comic Cons.

If we go by the Prometheus production timeline (which started around about the same time of year as Alien Covenant), then there is a possibility people might see something at the SDCC. As far as I remember, Prometheus started shooting around Feb/March 2011, and at SDCC that year they showed some teasers to a closed audience. Unfortunately this teaser was never released to the internet. All the internet got to see from SDCC was a Q&A session with Lindelof, Theron, and Ridley Scott who was just finishing off in Iceland with Noomi Rapace. I seem to remember we also got the first still at that time (Shaw being blown back by the storm with the Engineers' head in her hands).

The first public trailer didn't land until December that year.

At the least expect movie posters and banners, showing the official logo.

At the most expect a very short, 30 seconds at most, which will either be a montage of footage, part of a scene or something specifically shot for the teaser (think of the cracking egg teaser for Alien). As for the content, if we get a teaser, I would say expect to hear pleas, screams, laboured breathing and, knowing Ridley something seemingly out of place, something mysterious that will ignite speculation.

Yes i think a few teaser posters, and tag lines would go a long way..

Be a bit like before Prometheus Trailers if we had a Poster of the Juggernaut  and a Tag Line... Play with Fire, Get Burnt!

Or some other poster of the Urns with Forbidden Fruit....

So some posters with some Tagline that would vaguely draw us a picture of the Plot would be great.

Also i dont think they should give much away... but surely they have the Space Suits the Covenant Crew Wear?  I think having them on display and also maybe a scale model of the Covenant Ship would be fantastic

I remember the opening scene to Prometheus... the Score... the flying over a Landscape that seemed primordial.... maybe we could be shown a shot of Paradise like this.....   This could be done easy as they would be using Helicopters to travel around the area of Shooting in New Zeland

Maybe some poster of a World (Globe) with Tagline above Paradise? And below Pandemonium!

Pandemonium is something that could be used to describe the opposite of Paradise... i think it would be a great Tagline...  Funny enough they supposed source that i had did say that Prometheus 2 was going to be called either just Paradise Lost or Pandemonium and Prometheus prefix would be dropped.

Pandemonium is in Paradise Lost as that poems version of Hell, but Pandemonium also means Un-order, Chaos the dictionary meaning does fit to what Prometheus seemed to be showing seeds to... and also Paradise Lost Poem

That never formatted right... here is 2nd try.

Pandemonium (Noun)

1. wild uproar or unrestrained disorder; tumult or chaos.

2. a place or scene of riotous uproar or utter chaos.

These points are connected, Chaos/Turmoil is opposite to Paradise, Disorder and uproar could link to Rebellion, Confrontation pretty much what Satan had done against God

3. (often initial capital letter) the abode of all the demons.

4. hell.

These two are connected, as Hell is often linked to the place where Demons call home.....

Maybe Paradise was Paradise.. but now it is Hell, well Pandemonium the Place where Gods Angels may have started creation from... the Base of the Angels of God within our Galaxy that after a Rebellion is now the Home of the Rebellious?

But then again as i said the Source is no Way 100% Proven to be True, and with the U-Turn of Alien Covenant maybe unless Paglen/Green Drafts come to light we will never know

But i still feel a Paradise/Pandemonium connection within context to the Prometheus links and even Covenant Synopsis fits very well

It would be interesting to see some poster/banner like a very dark landscape of the Engineer homeworld,a covenant ship landing somewhere not far away and a David standing on hill wearing some cloak with his hoodie on(his face not shown),looking at the covenant ship landing.Simmilar to the opening scene in prometheus.

"We all have our time machines, don't we. Those that take us back are memories...And those that carry us forward, are dreams."

Dark Nebula: I think that could be a way to show that they are connected (Alien Covenant and Prometheus). Maybe some people wasn't sure if Prometheus and Alien were connected so they should maybe be clearer about that this time so people won't be confused. Some people probably saw that they were connected and some were not I wasn't the first time.

I think this was the problem as far as Prometheus/Alien Connection.... general public would not be aware... imagine if you never saw Alien or Aliens... or only saw Aliens and Alien 3 but never more than a few times and watched Prometheus... you would make little connection... only via the Deacon at the end... or if you paid more attention to Aliens... Weyland name..

So they are going for a movie that would make the public its more about Alien... hence Alien Prefix.... those who never saw Prometheus or never got it... may after watching Alien Covenant go back and watch Prometheus.

Some fans was very into Prometheus and its clues... and may want many answers from them... and not really the Xeno Eggs on Derelict Question... Sadly for those fans i dont think they will get the clues or answers they want.... but vaguely...  and if people go to see Alien Covenant its does well gives more Xeno clues... then Alien 5 gives more clues and hints at Engineers....

Maybe Fox can gauge now Fans have a Xeno fix and more answers in the next 2 movies AC and Alien 5... that if they feel fans are now interested in who these Engineers are... they could explore that more in future movies.

As long as they dont push Alien 5...... because we know Alien 5 will have Xenos and Ripley..... and if FOX having anything to promote the Alien 5 movie... and Alien Covenant does not feature any Props.. Images that related to Xeno... i.e even if its a Egg.

And especially if Miss Weaver turns up... it could harm Alien Covenant... Weaver should be Gagged until after the movie is out....  (why could they not killed her off in Alien 3 lol)

I do fear though as Ridley and Fox said the Alien Franchise is about Ripley... and the Xeno...  Nope its about a Ancient Alien Race who created many forms of life... then got involved in Mankind and Evil Biology that where both bad ideas..

As far as for the Engineers Race/Agenda and History..... not saying Xeno is bad idea in general lol Just in hindsight creating Mankind and then experiments with Evil Biology proved a costly mistake for the Engineers. I hope to God... they dont have Ripleys relations in this movie and Ripleys Family Member is the Space Jockey lol This will be as unforgivable as seeing Ja Ja Binks play a big role in Star Wars EP8-9 and Rogue One!

All the trailer needs, is a shot of a Xeno and that'll get the ball rolling.

BD are you saying Jar Jar Binks is the Space Jockey!!? "Missa chestbursted!"

I think a poster similar to the 1979 Alien one would be great... especially if they try and give a explanation for the Origins... remember that Egg on the Poster looks nothing like the Alien Eggs in the movie.

It looks more like a Chicken Egg, that is oozing Green Stuff and it would be great if something like this is what the Engineers came across and it was the Origin to all things.

Big Dave: To be honest the first time that I watched Prometheus (as far as I remember it) I wasn’t aware that it was connected to the Xeno until the monster at the end. It isn’t that the movie is bad it is just that it wasn’t connected enough. Maybe it is partially Lindelof’s fault (to be fair I don’t say that he is the only one to blame) but I didn’t understand it very well at first so I had to do a lot of research to understand it but not everyone is geeky enough to do that so I understand if some people just think that the movie made no sense.

Maybe some people will go back to Prometheus and watch it and will like it more. They might not even like the majority of Prometheus but then some of it will make more sense to them why things happened the way it did in Prometheus so they will be able to add 1+1 so to speak.

As far as going back and watch Prometheus some people might have gotten so mad at the movie so they refuse to go back and watch it. Some people are so emotional.

For me the reason why Prometheus was interesting was because its connection to Alien. I would probably not have been as interested in it if it wasn’t for that. The Engineers are alright but they become more interesting because their connection to the Xenos but that is not to say that I want Alien Covenant to be a pure Xeno movie. Hopefully we will find out more about the Engineers as scientists, military strategists, and so on.

I am not very interested in Alien 5, I don’t say that those that are looking more forward to that than to Alien Covenant are wrong or dumb but Alien Covenant seems more interesting to me. We have already seen people run away from Xenos four times already (plus the AvP movies) so please do something new. Hopefully Alien Covenant will be more connected to the Xenos than Prometheus was in order to not confuse people.

You mentioned who the Alien franchise is about; some people might look at it in different ways as long as the writers of it haven’t said that it is about X Y or Z. Some might say that is about our fear if disease (the Xeno as a parasite), corporate madness (Weyland corp), feminism (Ripley, Shaw), and so on. One could say that it is about many things even though you claim that it is about the Engineers even though they haven’t explored them very much this far. What I think though is that it surely isn’t about Ripley because she isn’t in all Xeno related movies (Prometheus, and so on). LOL at mentioning Jar Jar Binks, that had me really laughing out loud.
