Will Godzilla 2016 use the original 1954 roar?

By now, you all must know that the new Godzilla 2016 movie will be using the original ShodaiGoji design but updating it. But will that use the original roar to go along with the original design? Would they update the roar, mixing the original 1954 sound with other Godzilla sounds (likely from the Heisei or Millennium eras)? It would make sense and just drive hardcore fans (like me) insane. Any thoughts?

i hope so or maybe even a modified version like the 84 roar that is still incredibly close to the original

I also hope so.

I don't think they should use the exact 1954 roar, but do what was done in 1984 and update the roar to sound more organic and less crude. The roar from 1984-1991 has to be my favorite version of Godzilla's roar, because it sounds so intimidating and otherworldly.

I vote for the original roar from the 1954 film, exactly as it is:

Especially the one at 0:24.

Yes, this one.

Thank you.

I kinda want this Godzilla to have a new roar.

Godzilla... Truly a God incarnate.

i wouldn't mind a update to the roar but can still show its roots.

SOMETHING REAL

I've always felt that the original roar was the best, the most horror and fear-inducing and most indentifiable with Godzilla. To me, it goes with the Shodai-Goji design in a way that other roars do not quite go as much with the suits they were heard with. Of course, a lot of it has to do with the fact that it was this roar that I first heard when seeing Godzilla, King of the Monsters. It was late at night on a local Los Angeles television station, KHJ-TV, Channel 9. The Terry Morse Edit, featuring Raymond Burr, wiped out, completely the other monster movies I'd seen up until then. And I'd seen a few. But it was that roar, with Godzilla looking over the hill on Odo Island. When you see and hear something like that when you're about 10-11 years old, it tends to stay with you. There's a violence and anger in the original roar that has not been matched since. However, the roar from Return of Godzilla gets a very honorable mention.

How the production staff produce it, is, of course, up to them. But if they want to use the string on a contrabass, it's fine with me. I'm just a fan.

I've got a radical idea about how at least part of the roar can be done.

We all remember the initial concept teaser for Godzilla 2014. Well, the second part of the roar was extremely deep and bellowing, like the foghorn of a freighter ship or something.

I think something almost exactly like that should be used for the trail off of Godzilla 2016's roar. The initial roar? I don't know.

I cast a vote with Jamaal. 54 roar please.

I'd say a combination of a few different factors will be required to make the best roar for Godzilla 2016:

First and foremost, paying homage to the original film, the new roar has to resemble the original's in many ways, right down to the beat of the notes in the voice.

Second, the roar needs to be powerful and foreboding, to emphasize that Godzilla is a force to fear, something to strike terror into the heart of Humanity.

Third, the roar needs to be updated so as to not be disconnected to modern standards of sound design. The Legendary approach is a good one, by recreating the same overall beat of the classic roar that manages to sound like a real animal's call as well.

A similar process done to the original film's iconic roar should be done, so as to create a booming and terrifying call of a truly ancient being beyond imagination.

I'm all for making the roar sound 'modern.'

But, having said this, I believe the 1954 roar, in its various modes, is the best and the most suitable for the way Godzill is reportedly going to be portrayed. Godzilla doesn't have to sound ogranic to the point that he sounds like something familiar. That's the whole point: a creature irradiated by nuclear energy is not going to sound 'natural.' This was and is so characteristic of that frightening, iconic roar. Besides the rage and power in it, there is a, if you will, plaintiveness about it, as if this creature has been wounded becuase it's been altered by the Bomb. The unnatural tone of Godzilla's roar bespeaks of the mutation that resulted from having been exposed to nuclear testing, in this case, specifically, Operation Bravo in 1954.
