MemberFacehuggerMay-01-2015 6:09 AMRidley Scott had acquired the rights to 'Forever War' in 2008 (although he had been wanting to direct a film for longer). I guess he no longer has the rights based on this article at THR.
Considering he had been talking about 'Prometheus 2', 'Blade Runner 2' and 'Forever War' for some time, what this news, plus the knowledge that Scott is only producing 'Blade Runner 2', tells me is Scott is definitely knee-deep in 'Prometheus 2: Paradise' at the moment. Hopefully we'll start hearing/seeing some stuff soon.
(Oh, and it also lessens my enthusiasm for a movie version of 'Forever War' because I have not been impressed with Channing Tatum)

I fear 'Forever War' is the next 'Ender's Game'.....Awesome books but hard to translate?

MemberPraetorianMay-01-2015 9:32 AMWell, I'm disappointed that Ridley will no longer be helming Forever War, disappointed for him too, as it's a project he's been wanting to do for years. In the article there's no mention a director yet, so who knows?
Fingers crossed then, for the Prometheus sequel being his next port of call.

MemberDeaconMay-01-2015 1:02 PMDisapointing for Ridley but he had a busy schedule and a lot does point to him working mainly and heavily on Prometheus 2 and considering that rumour was they had a final draft before he starting shooting the Martian... i think all signs are that Prometheus 2 is a Big Pet Project for Ridley and Fox.... why the delay... maybe they want to get it RIGHT they are not going to rush this and also maybe he has to also wait for commitments of people he would want to have cast.
High hopes i feel for Prometheus 2

MemberFacehuggerMay-01-2015 8:34 PMScott has certainly been busy. Maybe he has put Forever War aside for his latest production Child 44, which is just being released. That said, imo I think now would be a cood time for him to be working on P2.

MemberFacehuggerMay-01-2015 8:44 PMBTW it is worth looking at who is in the cast line up for Child 44, no ther than Noomi Rapace. So it makes sense that not only Ridley is freed up but Noomi as well.
