FIGHT!

A large male Dunkleosteus is patrolling his territory. The fish is unrivalled here and would like to keep it that way. A small shark darts out in front of him. The fish sees the chance to take out a rival and get a meal. The armored killer speeds forward, chasing after the shark.

Meanwhile, a female Pliosaurus is searching for a new home. She was driven from her old one by an aggressive bull Pliosaurus. As she moves in toward some shallow seas, she senses something coming toward her. The shape of a small shark becomes visible. She charges forward to intercept it.

The shark has no time to react as the Dunkleosteus grabs its tail and the Pliosaur grabs his head. Between the scissor like jaws of the fish and the powerful jaws of the reptile, the shark has no chance. Now it’s a tug of war between super predators. The reptile does a death roll and the shark is torn in half. Each giant carnivore eats their half, then soon realize they’re rivals. The Pliosaurus opens her jaws wide, showing rows of jagged teeth. The Dunkleosteus chatters it’s jaws, making a loud clicking sound, showing he’s agitated. The battle lines have been drawn.

The fish uses his agility to go in low and outflank the larger reptile. The pliosaur adjusts and gets her jaws between her and the fish. She snaps them shut inches from the head of the Dunkleosteus. The fish backs off a bit and tries to figure something out. However, his primitive brain is slow. The more advanced reptile though, knows what to do. She speeds forward and smashes her skull into his gills. The wind is knocked out of the large fish and he spins away. The Pliosaurus is running out of breath. As much as she’d love to follow up with the attack, she must take her opportunity to go get air. She charges to the surface and breaches.

As she descends again, the fish attacks. He slices off a small bit of flipper and backs off. As the water turns red, the Pliosaurus counters. Before the fish can get far enough away, she latches on to his small dorsal fin. Using her strong jaws, she tears off over half of the fin. The fish spins around and snaps his jaws at her. The sea reptile rams her head into his and gets a splitting headache. The Dunkleosteus goes in low and aims for the pliosaur’s stomach. But she maneuvers in time and intercepts him. The fish tries to get out of her way, but doesn’t do it in time. She latches on to a flipper and does a death roll. She tears off half of the flipper and swallows it whole.

The Dunkleosteus strikes back and goes for her short tail. She can’t turn around in time as he bites down on the tip of her tail. The Pliosaurus needs air again, but the fish is holding her down by her tail. Normally, she wouldn’t need air for nearly an hour. But with all this fighting, she needs to breath more often. Finally, she uses her sheer power and breaks out of his grip. She takes a quick gulp of air and gets back to business. She starts to circle the fish, trying to get behind it’s armored head. The more agile Dunkleosteus is able to keep his jaws pointed at the reptile. Finally, she get’s tired of waiting and charges. She strikes him in the ribs, breaking some and sending him spinning. She lunges forward and shreds his gills before he can react. The fish struggles to breath and she takes the initiative. She closes her jaws on his head and starts to squeeze.

It takes several minutes before the armor starts to crack. She continues to put pressure on. A few teeth break and her jaws ache, but she keeps going. Finally, a tooth breaks through and pierces the brain. The fish goes limp and the Pliosaurus releases her jaws. She hurries to the surface and takes another gulp of air. She rests and lets her heart beat slow down a bit. Finally, she swims over to the lifeless body of the Dunkleosteus. If she wants to defend her new home, she’ll need to rebuild her strength.

Winner- Pliosaurus

It was a good and pretty even fight. However, the Pliosaurus had the strength and size to overpower her rival.

Next time on Clash of Aquatic Titans...

Kronosaurus was a huge and powerful sea reptile. Brygmophyseter was a smart and deadly whale that was able to give Megalodon a run for it’s money. What would happen if these apex predators met? Find out next time on Clash of Aquatic Titans.

Nice! :D

I think intelligence was also an important factor. Fish already aren't the brightest creatures, go figure a devonian fishy! o.O

Thanks, and that's very true. Though reptiles aren't geniouses(some are smart, but not most), they're still smarter than fish.

Pretty good fight. I am a fan of Pliosaurs so glad it won...Don't think Dunkleosteus stood that much of a chance. Also, looking forward to seeing the next fight. I like Kronosaurus as well...interesting to see how that will play out.
