As we all know the Godzilla 2014 trailers showed us only body parts or blurry shots of the MUTO's until the movie was close to release and this realy did help hype the fans up so they could see what the foes godzilla faced look like. So now lets take Godzilla's arch-enemy King Ghidorah, how are you gonna show any part of him withough giving away who its is straight away? So for intstance if you showed anything golden-dragon like people are gonna automatically know who it is.

However some kaiju such as Anguirus, Rodan and Gorgosaurus can be kept much more secret then someone such as Biollante and Ghidorah and hopefully Legendary do go for those secretive trailers again as we all know hyped us up. As always leave your comments bellow and hope for a perfect Godzilla sequel.

I don't think they would need to do those secret trailers though, because we all know what Godzilla looks like now, so why keep it a secret. And I could never see the MUTOs in any of the trailers, except the one stomp, and dive.

If they did bring classic monsters back, they'd be reimagined much like Godzilla was. They could still be that "secret" trailers to build hype for we the fans wouldn't know how much they changed the look/traits of the classic Toho monsters.

I'd say tease these monsters in the same way as they did with Godzilla early on, but make sure any truly defining features that would give it away are kept out of the shots. For example, make very heavy use of obscured shots and dust and/or fog, and maintain the visual focus on the destruction going on around the creature.

Very simple tease: Just show a body part like a head of biolante's vine head things or the leg of a monster. The other thing that can be done is a roar that we might know the roar but non hardcore fans will be confused.

All your points are valid and I easily agree that hype would be made because of the visual changes to the characters we love and as True American Godzilla did say we all know what Godzilla looks like and yet we still was hyped for him. My point isnt "These enemy's of godzilla wont be in sequels becuase they are too easy to see who it is" but "maybe this kaiju wont be in it"

And of cource Legenary could make some changes like Ghidoraj having a more muddy texture then pure gold. But although I would love to see a monster we have already met why not just have new ones to be more exited about, and some monster such as anguris having there own movie installment.

If monsters like Anguirus show up in a movie again it will be with Godzilla. They will not get their own installment from either Legendary or Toho unless the golden egg layer is in it with them.

That said, Legendary is rumored to have bought the rights to Angurius, Rodan, Mothra and King Ghidorah for possible future sequels. I suppose they could buy the rights to other monsters if they want to, but as of now those four seem most likely.

They won't appear in sequels because they're impractical and they just don't work or make sense.

Toho monsters are cool, but not a single one of them are practical or useful in this new franchise's established universe and just too full of flaws to be of any use or have any credibility.

Right at the top of the list of impractical creatures are Ghidorah, Destoroyah, Mechagodzilla, and Spacegodzilla. All of them are just impractical and have close to zero modern or 'realistic' credibility.

Ghidorah is a three headed golden dragon from space. Where from in space? What planet? How did he get to earth? Why did he come to earth in the first place? None of these questions are answered in Ghidorah's original incarnation in the Showa series, and in the Heisei series he's just a mutant combination of three tiny Dorats. Lame.

Mechagodzilla is impractical becuase there's no logical reason to design a robot in the shape of a Kaiju due to anatomical limitations and constraints they put on the robots mobility, stability, and overall performance compared to a human shaped robot which can move the same as we can and fight all the more effectively with a human pilot inside.

Destoroah? No. Just no. Nothing can be "born" of a device that destroys oxygen due to the fact that every living creature on this planet needs oxygen in some form to survive. Micro-oxygen is actually used in wine making, and is not a weaponized element, so the whole micro-oxygen thing doesn't make sense.

And finally Spacegodzilla. Again, just no. First of all, Godzilla's cells never made it into space nor would they with the way the stories are being told. Secondly, being sucked into a black hole and pushed out of a white hole while being absorbed by a crystalline life form and empowered with energy from the explosions of stars? Yeah, physics took a hike on that one.

Other Toho monsters are just too weak or, again, impractical in their own right.

Hedorah is a pile of living sludge. Lame. Rodan is a pteranodon. They're extinct, so no go there. Anguirus is supposedly a dinosaur, so again, no go. Mothra is a moth. Weak. Battra is a dark version of Mothra. Say what? Oh well, it's still an insect. Weak. Ebirah is a crustacean which could actually pose a problem for Godzilla since the right crustaceans could be deadly such as the Mantis Shrimp with the fastest punch/claw attack in the animal kingdom. But everyone hates him and would never want to see him.

Gigan is some kind of mutant space robot thing. Yeah, no. Megalon is some kind of ancient civilization guard dog that looks like an insect. No. Biollante is kind of cool, but a combination of Godzilla's cells and those of a plant would not be thought of or done in a modern world due to the known dangers of such a creation as well as the fact that it just woudln't be done. Baragon is Baragon. No. Kamakura is a praying mantis which is interesting, but again it's just another insect and those get old fast. Kumonga is a spider, an arachnid, which is interesting but also falls into the idea of an insectoid monster which gets old real fast. And finally there's Meguirus, another insect.

tw_g Are you mad about something? people like to have fun and talk about what monsters they might add. this isnt a science project way on how each creature can exist. also Godzilla was a dinosaur at one point in this new series he was apart of the dinosaur era. So Rodan could easily be another one like a radioactive pterodan. And SpaceGodzilla could happen you know the government wants a protective way to fight Godzilla if he ever does something wrong, And he doesnt have to look exactly like Godzilla.

Good grief.

@TW_G-FAN2014 What are you talking about? Monsters like Anguirus, Rodan, Baragon, Varan, Manda, Ebirah, Kamacuras, Kumonga, and Megaguirus would fit in perfectly in the Legendary Godzilla universe. Also, your reasoning for many of these monsters being a no-no is based on an assumption that they would have the exact same origins that they had in  their original incarnations, even though quite a few monsters, such as Godzilla himself, Mechagodzilla, Mothra, and Ghidorah have had many different origin stories over the years. Really, almost any classic monster could be adapted to the Legendary universe by giving them a more natural/animalistic appearance and having them be another creature that evolved during the same time period as Godzilla and the Mutos.

So basically your saying Warner Bros. is going to pass up a gold mine of a box office and storytelling opportunities because the marketing team is going to be stupid enough to try the exact same method of secrecy with sequels to a Godzilla movie. Uh yeah, no.

AdminGodzillaJun-12-2014 3:46 PM

TW_G-Fan2004,

I don't think your reasoning is very sound. Especially since you got a few of those "origins" wrong. It's not always about the origin anyway. For example, the vaguery of King Ghidorah's space origin is what makes him so interesting. It's like not knowing The Joker's background in The Dark Knight. It really doesn't matter. What matters is that he exists and that's terrifying enough.

I think fans get too wound up in practicality that they believe everything begins and ends with how good the origin of something is. That's not the case at all. Good writing can mend ideas to be successful no matter what. The trick isn't making Toho's slate of monsters realistic, the trick is making them work within the context of a story. And if, say for example, Mothra works for a given story they should use her. Simple as that.

Wait, so your argument for this thread is that the hype for an unknown monster would be higher than that of a known, popular monster? Please explain that logic.

Mecha Rodan

MemberMothra LarvaeJun-12-2014 6:17 PM

King Ghidora: He could be a creature that lived in Godzilla's time or maybe before him but Ghidora could have been buried deep underground next to a high radiation source and then humans accedentaly awaken him when they open up the hole he lived in and then Godzilla comes to kill Ghidora

MechaGodzilla: Why not?

Rodan: If they put a twist on him like make him have a fusion reator in him and have a fusion beam. Not likely but a giant pteranadon would be really cool. Also rodan could have lived during Godzilla's time. Same for Anguirus.

Why not Ebirah? Iff there was a nice quality to him like he helped Godzilla do something or he had a cool ability then I might like him.

Gigan: Could be a failed experiment by a government in a super power to create a monster that could win any war, and then he goes out of control when Godzilla destroys some of his computer.

Biollante: Could be a failed attempt to make a plant that never dies and can feed the world but something goes wrong ad the plant becomes giant in order to survive and it decides to kill other kaiju so it can live.

Most of these don't make sense but a giant monster that lives at the bottom of the ocean isn't that realistic either so who cares? Also you say most TOHO monsters are weak? Mothra is the gaurdian of the Earth and defeted Gigan, Rodan could have destroyed New York in Final Wars if the Xaliens wanted him to, most of your statements are pure opinion @TW G-FAN2014

It could very well work in my opinion. Why would they have to hide the fact that there is a TOHO monster in the movie in the first place? In the trailers they would obviously have to hide the TOHO monster but still give glimpses without revealing too much, just like they did with the MUTOs or else that will just spoil everything. But they have to tell the fans that there will be a a TOHO monster in it you know why? Because once fans here about a TOHO monster in it, then it will riase more hype than the 1st one and it will make more money. So this is just my opinion, they should reveal that there is a TOHO monster (for example, King Ghidrah) but not reveal too much in the trailers. Maybe show his foot or his electricity beam being shot at cars and stuff.

I think the great minds that did the new Godzilla movie could easily come up with new or slightly altered origin of a Togo monster.

I'm personally still pulling for Biollante just on the fact it's the most credible.  What scientist today doesn't experiment with anything and everything they can get their hands on?

Just like in Biollante, when the scientist loses his daughter they were trying to combine cells from wheat with other cells that could survive in the desert.  They get their hands on Godzilla skin samples, which would go great from the last movie since Godzilla was tag teamed by the powerful MUTOs.

Boom!  Next thing you know Biollante is born... G vs bMaybe we could skip the whole giant rose thing this time?
