U.S. Military Expert Unveils a Strategy for Deploying Godzilla in War

An article I came by that proves to be very interesting. Apparently if Godzilla really did exist our forces wouldn't try to destroy him but - more or less - use him. This whole article is from the point of view of a U.S. Military expert who explains how Godzilla's existence would benefit science and war if he was the real deal. Any Godzilla fan would love this read, it's pretty awesome.

So what are your thoughts? Could you see American forces riding into battle with Godzilla by their side? Beats riding a death horse into battle, in my opinion.

Interesting I did expect some celebrities say something about the Godzilla charachter but not the real millitary.

Interesting.

But I've always said ths, if Godzilla were real, he'd be used more as political tool.

I'm sure if anyone thought about it long enough they could figure out how godzilla could play into politics.

He is 350ft Tall people, those things on his neck ARE gills, and the Brazil photo is part of the final advertising design-- Deal with it.

INSTINCTIVEGIGAN - That is incredibly fascinating! The very idea treads close to the realm of the ludicrous - yet, in the end, it is an incredibly ingenious mechanism for prioritizing targets! Thank you very much for bringing this to our attention! This girl has a new strategy for Battleship! ;)

Very interesting. But i think he has left out a few things like how exactly do you 'befriend' a 350 foot tall monster or how do you give it orders?

ZILLAFORLIFE - You accomplish that feat by doing the one thing nobody's ever thought to do: give Godzilla a hug. Failing that, you could try sacrificing young girls to him in the same fashion as the peoples of Odo Island - that seemed to do the trick. ;)

I dunno, Instinctive Gigan, I'm not trying to be rude, but I think you either didn't understand what the guy was saying or are deliberately it using out of context.

The author was talking more about the use of a hypothetical Godzilla as a military thought experiment in order to theoretically identify the "center of gravity" in an enemy force. He wasn't at all talking how he would use a Godzilla, or how Godzilla would benefit war.

The example from which he works the theory is basically this:

You own an island your enemy wants to capture. Your enemy has air craft carriers, amphibious landing craft, and a large fleet of submarines.

Your own army only has enough resources to commit to taking out one of these threats. How do you determine which one is the most important to defeat?

Well, let's assume you had a single use 'auto-win' button...like a Godzilla creature for example...you could only deploy against one of the three. You use that auto-win against the submarines....can the enemy still capture your island?....yes they can. What if you used your auto-win against the carriers?...probably more effective, but the enemy could still possibly capture your island. What if you used your auto-win against the landing craft...can the enemy capture your island now? Actually no, no they can't. So the landing craft should be the primary target of your actual force.

So yeah. He wasn't talking about actually using Godzilla in battle. Rather, he was encouraging the theoretical use of a Godzilla or some other 'auto-win' force to help military commanders prioritize targets when they have limited resources.

It was still an interesting read. I still think it's a cool article. And I still think you, Instinctive Gigan, are in the upper ranks of reasonable posters on this forum. But on this day, I felt you terribly misrepresented what this article was trying to say.

@Something Real, You realize Godzilla absorbs nuclear radiation right. In the first movie, his foot-prints left traces of radiation behind. You might want a radiation suit first. Also, I would also hug him.

Of course the military would want to use Godzilla. He's an indestructible force of nature. Wars would be won in single battles. Godzilla could bring an end to most conflicts. But at what cost?

I don't think it works like that......But the amount of epic of having godzilla aid the military would be unmasurable.

The real military would launch a few of there bunker busters toward Godzilla throat, eyes or mouth, using computer guilded technolgy.  If a bunker buster can crash through layers of concrete or 6 feet of steel, then it could penetrated any part of Godzilla.  If that didn't work, they could alway poison Godzilla the way they did King Joffrey.

This was an awesome find. The thought to use Godzilla though if he were a real thing was prettY good, but that would be kind of impossible.

@MADISON I don't think I did, considering the whole point of the article is explaining why Godzilla would be useful in war and would be more beneficial to humanity. I mean literally everything you just said can be covered as "we'd use him for war." Also I did say "more or less", so yeah. But I appreciate making your list of awesome people! :D

@RAGEDREX I'm pretty sure none of that would do jack, surviving nukes pretty much covers everything we got. I hardly doubt you can compare concrete and steel to something like that.

@RAGEDREX I feel like nuking godzilla would only make the situation worse. And lets try to aviod spoilers for game of thrones even if it doesn't have anything to do with godzilla.

This is facinating. Great find.

Good news that the military would not destroy Godzilla. If Godzilla existed he would be the most powerful military weapon. But I don't know if Godzilla should be threaten as a military weapon.

I wanted to say something last night, but I couldn't because my internet was slow and I couldn't log in. So I'm gonna do say what I want to now. I find this idea smart, but at the same time kind of idiotic at the same time. Hear me out, what's smart is that they clearly say they won't fight Godzilla if he, or Godzilla-like creature, existed. That's smart because how can you kill something that either can't be killed by normal weapons or because the creature is completely new and know nothing of it's strengths and defences.  That's also where the idiotic part comes into play because it says that they would try to manipulate the creature to fight for us and attack our enemies, well with that alone I would like to see that happen but that's near impossible to do. As stated in GMK: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack, Godzilla is an animal, but what if it's just one Godzilla? Still don't see the problem? Let me rephrase that then, what if it's one FULL GROWN Godzilla? There's the problem, you can't easily manipulate a creature when it's full grown. It would be highly aggressive let alone defensive if it were provoked in any way. Even if the plan was to use Apache Helicopters to provoke the creature into going to enemy territory, that plan can still back-fire because to the creature all humans would be the same. The only way this idea would be maxed out flawless is if the creature was an infant and was raised by humans and trained by humans, not to mention fed by humans, it'll need a reliable food source. Point being, this idea/plan could be thought through just a little more. The idea of controlling Godzilla is fine, but how is what needs worked on.

Facinating but I feel like they would try to do the same thing G-force did in Godzilla VS SpaceGodzilla (1994). And if you saw the movie than you know how well that worked! lol

The one responder was correct.  The article posits Godzilla not so much as a viable miiltary ally, but as a fun teaching mechanism to force students to actually wargame their COG ideas.

Guys,  good or bad, Godzilla has the power to lay waste to the coast of California or the Tri-State area in days or even hours...he's more damaging than ten 9/11s, which, if you noticed caused us to fight two wars for over a decade.  He can't be controlled--that is one of the major points of the film.  The first time he had an incident that killed people, it would be a precision strike mission, without a doubt.
