MemberNoobSep-24-2013 7:34 PMLooks like Lucasfilm is developing a streamlined CG process using live actors sensors on them. This process has been used before but I think there trying to eliminate some of the editing work involved. Scenes that involve CG work could be filmed in real time all at once.
The graphics aren't too shabby and the movements are pretty smooth. Kinda scary to think what this could lead to.
I've already got a Kinect for my XBox 360(I'm pretty happy with it too)but this development could make games like this almost limitless in the not too distant future...where people like Woody Allen get chased by giant chickens ;)

MemberNoobSep-28-2013 9:46 AMCut n' Paste AT-AT Walker, LOL. I believe that Hollywood CG has really become animation art-form onto itself (especially with Disney); similar to like how Japanese Animation had evolved into almost a set of specific styles. I enjoy CG when it's used to simulate reality; however, I feel when it gets too fantastic (similar to modern super-hero films), it really takes me out of the mode of suspension of disbelief. Many scenes in the last "STAR TREK" film, particularly the fight between Khan/Spock would an example of this (or the droid factory in SW "Attack of the Clones").
I'm not a fan of the overly cartoony CG scenes in Hollywood Sci-Fi; although, I think it's fine for a super-hero, magical fantasy, or a children's CG feature. It's tough to take films even a little-bit seriously when far too much is made kid-centric, visually. And let alone, expect to have at least a decent story to back-up these enormous CG environments + budgets.
It's quite interesting to see this be done 'on-the-fly'. And I wonder how long before holographic technologies become part of the Hollywood picture making process, or even the movie-going experience? Maybe within the next decade.

I agree with you about using "on the fly" CG technology could snowball into something.
It would be interesting to travel into the future and see how it develops...

And follow it up later with, "batlh Daqawlu'taH!" (You will be remembered with honor). Just before sacrificing her body to the endless void, with lethal blasts from the cruiser's torpedo bank (gif required). And thus protecting the secret Comic-Con data, & the galactic interests of the Empire. Oh my Lord! :O
