MemberMothra LarvaeAug-15-2013 3:23 AMFor those who don't know, Yoshimistu Banno (G 2014's producer) had originally planned to make an IMAX Godzilla film around 2007. The film would have had Godzilla fight a monster named Deathla who was a "spiritual successor" of sorts to Hedorah the Smog Monster (another Banno brain child and an awesome on at that). The IMAX film was dropped in favor of this new upcoming film. Though not a whole lot is known about Deathla, Banno has said that he would have looked similar to Hedorah but with red skin and a human skull like face. Sounds interesting. With rumors about Hedorah being the opponent, maybe it's actually Deathla? What do you guys think?

MemberMothra LarvaeAug-15-2013 7:28 PMWell I can say nothing in the trailer indicated as such. Also having talked to Gareth, he said no Toho monsters will be used apart from Godzilla himself. The monsters in the film are going to be original.

I have a hard time imagining a monster made of pollution like Deathla fitting into this more "realistic" Godzilla movie. At most, maybe we'll get a new kaiju with some nods to Deathla's design (red skin, skull-like face), but I think Godzilla is going to fight a gigantic reptilian-like or bug-like kaiju. Also, it has been stated that the new movie will feature new opponents for Godzilla. Obviously, Deathla has not been in a movie, but I still think they came up with new creatures.

MemberMothra LarvaeAug-15-2013 8:02 PMWhile I do not know if it will happen, I would love to see an opponent in this movie. Otherwise this would be the 4th movie with just "Godzilla" in it. Technically Deathla is not a Toho monster that has been used before. So saying a Toho monster would not be used would not be a false statement. Paying homage to Hedorah would be great in a new monster. The same type of creationism could be used for the story line in humans and their impact on the environment creating the monster, but with a modern twist. Global warming? That island of pollution floating in the pacific? Nuclear leakage from the Fukushima? Then again that last part could be the story behind creating the newest Godzilla.

MemberMothra LarvaeAug-15-2013 9:03 PMWell, the other monster they showed in this year's footage at the Legendary Panel at Comic-Con, not what they showed at the "Godzilla Encounter" that was just Godzilla, didn't resemble anything that looks like any "Deathla" artwork I have seen, and I've seen a lot of Godzilla art! It looked incredibly alien in nature, and, in comparison, reminded me of some combination of other creature designs that I have seen before. I cannot believe with how many people were in Hall H that Saturday morning, that I have not seen anyone else comment on what they saw...,

MemberMothra LarvaeAug-16-2013 8:42 PMWhile I'm one of the few in my circle of Godzilla fans to like Godzilla vs Hedorah, I wouldn't want Deathla or any incarnation of Hedorah to be in the american Godzilla movie. I think it's too obscure of a villain to work. It would definitely work in connection to the atomic representation of Godzilla and how we humans kind of treat the earth and science in general but it would just be too weird I think in the first movie to have him fight anything other than a creature of similar origin/ qualities.

@Gabriel Leite, Anguirus won't be in it either. Why are all of you so exciting for this movie, hoping that some old monsters will appear!? Don't any of you want something new!?!?!?

MemberMothra LarvaeSep-01-2013 12:14 PMyes SCARFO ! That was a good one. With all the talk that goes on here and there...and we still have nothing worth worrying about to go on. With the rumors of a Godzilla redesign , and the fact that the split has hampered efforts to get the word out, this movie may not be released until later in the summer. maybe even 2015...if you notice most posters don't say May at all...problems abound with this movie....

I think Anguirus will be awesome -sorry for my english! I'm brasilian....dont speak english good :/
