In the Toonami interview Del Toro said there were 40 robots at the beginning of the Jaeger program. The movie only gives the final four left.

Yep, we know that. That's why I'd like a prequel for PR2 instead of a sequel. I'd like to see more of those jaegers, and the kaiju they fought... how they got destroyed, decomissioned, etc.
