Characters and their relations.

The Jaegers and the Kaiju have gotten the lion's share of the attention, and deservedly so. But I have to wonder about the actual humans caught between these behemoths stamping feet. A solid story and good acting can make this movie into something truly great instead of just a feast for young eyes. So who exactly are the main characters of the movie? I know the most basic outline. Pentecost is the inspiring general. Becket is the shell shocked veteran returned to service. Mako is the broken bird rookie who Becket takes under his arm (and possible love interest?). What else do we know?
