Facts: Prometheus opens in 2089 with the discovery of a cave painting in Scotland which points the way to the Engineer base. The ship arrives at LV223 in the final week of 2093, with the final events of the film taking place on New Year's Day, 2094. In Aliens Carter Burke orders the colonists to investigate the crashed Engineer ship on 12 June '79. Assuming Aliens happens in 2179, then Alien takes place 57 years earlier, in 2122 (and this was later confirmed in featurettes in the Alien Legacy boxed set). From a computer display at the start of Alien, the movie starts on 3 June. Thus, Prometheus concludes 28 years, 5 months and 2 days before the start of Alien. Questions: Why is the Engineer on LV426 Fossilized/Petrified to the Chair? Given the chronological order of our storyline, even if 79' was 2279 or 2379 it wouldn't be long enough to fossilize the engineer in my opinion. Reason 1: Therefore the warning Transmission in Alien pre dates the outbreak on LV223 given that the Engineers on LV223 are not Fossilized.Or are they? The bottom line is it takes a long time to fossilize is this an indication that those eggs and that ship have been sitting there A LONG TIME.....perhaps(most likely) more than 2000 years. just to further nail this into your skull the engineer head was lying preserved for 2000 years inside but the engineer bodies outside are not Fossilized right? Reason 2: what is "dental chair's purpose because I do not believe it is a Pilot dock? It displays multiple functionality when used by David and the Engineer in Prometheus. Could the engineer have been fossilizing himself with the dental chair device as some form of preservation for rescue. On LV223 is there only one Engineer Alive? How many are in Hypersleep? How many are aboard other ships that David speaks of. How many were in hyper sleep in the Map Room. Were any Engineer's dead in cryo? The egg chamber discovered by Kane- Is it part of the derelict or in a chamber below? Ive watched the scene many times and he is clearly descending quite a distance. In addition everything I read about the production seems to point to a Temple or Pyramid next to the Derelict that was scrapped due to budgetary concerns. The fact that the derelict is that same ship or same class of ship and we know that this derelict desgin is for bombing a planet with the goo cannisters. It seems likely to me the egg chamber is not part of the derelict. Im not sure?

Dont overthink it man its really a ship thats been there way before the Prometheus or Alien movie. In chronological terms the ship landed there thousands of years ago. Ridley Scott is not going with the whole David and Shaw causes ship to crash scenario. Its been played out too many times and too many super nerds cant be quiet about it. Seriously man the Engineer in Alien was there way way way before the events on LV-426. Your confusing yourself with old speculation. No he wasnt fossilized on purpose he literally died of a chestburster wound and his bio-suit and pilot chair just got stuck together. It happens alot with inorganic and organic things where they just meld over time like glue.

The Anunnaki were on the earth in those days--and also afterward--when the sons of God went to the daughters of humans and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, mighty men of high reno

Dallas made an assumption that it was fossilized. He assumed they were looking at a biological organism and not a flight suit which was integrated with the chair. Long and short- it wasn't fossilized, just appeared that way. Had they known there was a humanoid in there, their conclusions would have been much different.

Oh, and yes- the other 3 Engineers were dead in cryo. You can clearly see the other 3 pods appear to have been 'burst' through as if little chestbursters popped out. My question is- where the f**k did those little buggers go?

"Oh, and yes- the other 3 Engineers were dead in cryo. You can clearly see the other 3 pods appear to have been 'burst' through as if little chestbursters popped out." I've often seen this stated here but I have yet to see it for myself. I bought the Blu-ray collectors set and I've watched it many times and these old eyes haven't yet seen clear images of broken cryotubes in the control room. Can someone post stills of this?

I don’t want to come off as harsh but I didn’t appreciate this post AT ALL. Anunnaki50 this is a thread to discuss what I want to. If you don’t want to post then don’t, it seems pointless to post a message to me saying stop discussing this…… just don’t post. But since you did I will now breakdown exactly what you said in your post since you seem to either not know the facts of the story or just made a simple mistakes Here you say ”Ridley Scott is not going with the whole David and Shaw causes the ship to crash scenario, it has been played out too many times and too many super nerds can’t be quiet about it. First of all where the hell did that come from …..? I never claimed David and Shaw caused the ship to crash in Alien….. I actually never even mention Shaw on this discussion. So not only are you responding to something I never even posted you use your friends as a relevant source to why Ridley Scott would never go with a plot idea….. Next you posted “Seriously man the engineer in Alien was there way way way before the events on LV426. Your confusing yourself with old speculation.” Since I posted: Therefore the warning Transmission in Alien pre dates the outbreak on LV223 given that the Engineers on LV223 are not Fossilized. Or are they? We said the same thing. “way way way” huh? Oh yeah and way way way before the events on LV426 except the events on LV426 IS ALIEN, I’ll assume you meant LV223. And Its YOU’RE as in YOU ARE confusing yourself. Thank you to Flesh Vessel and Old Guy for having congenial attitudes and well thought out responses. This is a place for us to kick around ideas and have fun and I promise to always keep it that way.

I like to look at it like this: The Juggernaut crashed on LV426 was the only one to leave LV223 with the nasty deployment bound for Earth. This would make the LV426 Juggernaut around 2000 years old.

Ummester, I like this explanation. Maybe the Juggernaut on LV426 was trying to escape LV223 when all the death was happening?
