The twilight language explores hidden meanings and synchromystic connections via onomatology (study of names) and toponymy (study of place names). This blog further investigates "name games" and "number coincidences" found in news and history. Examinations are also found in my book The Copycat Effect (NY: Simon and Schuster, 2004).

I've always thought Tyrell Corp. looked a bit like 30 Rock myself. At the time the film was made, it would be more commonly known as the RCA Building. Also, the "I am the business" scene in Deckard's apartment (with the neon RCA logo outside his window, & Rachel in the foreground) is mildly synchronistic with Patti Hansen Over Manhattan (1977) by Helmut Newton. I beleive there is a fair bit of old NYC, referenced within BR ...maybe why Ridley wanted to film there originally (opposed to L.A.), but unfortunately not in the budget.

MemberNoobMay-22-2013 3:28 PMYes, this two-part blog post is interesting; particularly, the Aztec/Mayan observations. In part 1, we know that the 10.11.12 (seen in end-credits), was to be the original release date of the home video version of "Prometheus" (which was moved-up a few days). Other than that: 10+11+12 = 33.
Plus, Nexus (to bind)-6. Six replicants in the film ...Deckard, Rachel, Pris, Zhora, Leon, & Roy = The Bound-Six. Weyland 2023 (enigma), LOL. These are all simply coincidental synchronistic values, & should be taken as just that (especially the value of '33'). =P

Also, with the Helmut Newton photograph ...the RCA logo on-top of 30 Rock is out of focus. Newton photographed somewhere in behind, 666 5th Ave/Tishman Building (Warner's old East Coast HQ). Possibly from within this cluster of 5th Ave skyscrapers (black buildings in the left foreground, & either: 10 East 53rd St/Harper & Row Building, or 641 5th Ave/Olympic Tower), best guess.
Rachel: I'm not in the business. I am the business. Behind her, an RCA logo glows (holographic memory reference) through Deckard's window. In a world engulfed by the neon signatures of consumerism; Rachel faces the knowledge that she was born a product, even a cruel experiment.
And was Ridley a fan of Newton? I believe so, even Sigourney Weaver did a few sessions with him over the years.
With part 2 of the blog regarding ancient references, also the Tyrell Corp pyramids are synchronistic with the "Great Seal of the United States" (also found on the US dollar). In addition, with Ridley being such an admirer of the Chrysler Building in NYC (also Art Deco buildings in general); to me the neon RCA topped 30 Rock (completed 1933) of the past, is quite representative of the kind of building the Tyrell Corp alludes to in the real modern world (plus due to the historic technological nature of RCA as 'the business').
Prometheus @ 30 Rock:
Rockefeller Plaza in NYC is a virtual shrine to Prometheus. His golden statue stands at the head of the central fountain. Prometheus on a rock descends through a zodiac ring. The cloned horse Prometea, a moon of Saturn, are named after this Titan, as is the asteroid 1809 Prometheus. The story of Prometheus has inspired many authors through the ages, & the Romantics saw Prometheus as a prototype of the natural daemon or genius.
Prometheus is Rockefeller Center's best-known sculpture (proposed, & designed by Paul Manship), & NYC's next best-known only behind the Statue of Liberty. The inscription behind is by the Greek playwright Aeschylus reads: "Prometheus teacher in every art, brought the fire that hath proved to mortals a means to mighty ends". The sculpture makes an unusual backdrop for ice skaters, & diners. When the sculpture was installed, it was scorned by some, & it was called "Leaping Louie". It was cast by Roman Bronze Works in Long Island City, NY. The model for Prometheus was Leonard Nole, a bodybuilder from New Rochelle, NY. He was paid $1 an hour for his modeling work.
The bronze sculpture has to be regularly re-gilded. It weighs 8 tons. The figure is 2.5-times life-size. Playful water jets splash around him, & up onto the wall. Manship's sculpture originally showed the colossal Prometheus handing the gift of fire to a man, & woman (Youth/Maiden). The entire group was installed in the central plaza of Rockefeller Center in Jan-1934 (against the Fountain West Wall on the Lower Plaza). However, after a year, Manship felt that the male, & female figures were 'out of proportion' so they were removed. These smaller figures were pressed into service on the roof garden of the Palazzo d'Italia.
Prometheus was the Greek fire-god, also friend of mankind. It was thought that he gave mankind the gift of life. Prometheus gave fire to man, but this brought grief, also destruction. As a result of his actions, he made an enemy of Zeus, who chained Prometheus to a rock, & sent an eagle in every day to eat Prometheus' liver. His liver was restored each night. After 30 years, Hercules rescued Prometheus by slaying the 'eagle'.
