Possible 'new news' or more-of-the-same news but still worth a read ____________________________________________________________________ The Nexus News is reporting that Prometheus 2 is in the works. The desired date for release is around 2014/2015 but in the worst case scenario, it might take as long as 2017. If everything goes well, filming might even begin later this year. Apparently, director Ridley Scott is in the planning stages right now and is trying to figure out how to achieve certain special effects and how to go about filming the whole thing. The plan is to have the Prometheus sequel answer many questions asked in the first film and follow the two main storylines that were left dangling. According to rumours, we would see where David and Dr. Elizabeth Shaw venture when they flew off at the end of the film and discover what they find, as well as a story- line which concerns the Elder Engineers, that were cut from Prometheus. While a sequel may answer a few questions that Prometheus posed, even more will be asked in order to set up Prometheus 3, which would round out a trilogy that Damon Lindelof and Ridley Scott have had discussions about. The plan they have in place is to diverge further away from Alien in a Prometheus sequel, but then bring it back into the franchise for the third film. The journey for this material is definitely not yet over and if both Scott and Lindelof can find the balance between entertainment and ideas that they found in Prometheus, then there is much to be excited about. Of course, Scott has a lot to clear off his slate before he gets to this, The Counselor, a re-team with Michael Fassbender with a script by Cormac McCarthy, being chief among them and then there’s other projects he has in development too. Plus, the 75 year old director isn’t getting any younger. Please remember though that all of this is just a rumor and nothing has been confirmed by the studio yet. Although, I suspect it won’t be long before FOX officially announces this. As always, we will post more news on the situation as it arises. ____________________________________________________________________ We shall see where this 'news' unfolds in due course. What I like about this snippet of information was it's implication of getting futher away from the ALIEN franchise then 'bringing it back' for the third film in the planned PROMETHEUS trilogy franchise. I think it is promising that they are talking of the idea of a trilogy still quite confidently and not so soon after the release of PROMETHEUS. Not that I would want them to rush the creative process but I am pleased that its more-than-likely that they are steam rolling on with the franchise and wanting to get the next meat of the body out to awating fans relatively soon with regards to production values and logistics. And the fact that news agencies are reporting the sequel news for PROMETHEUS 2 & 3 so-matter-of-factly leaves me salivating for the novelization of PROMETHEUS to read until the next film in the series is revealed to be definately 'confirmed' as definately in production.

The thing that worries me slightly there is that they plan to shoot in 2013. What about the script?
The whole point of this is lost if you keep it a secret.

i worry that it might not come out untill 2017(worst case possible though.) even if that is not a fact it dissapoints me.

Was there a date on the source article? i ask because i think this is very old news. Nexus news posted the abovementioned info about a week after the film came out. About a month later, via official spokesperson, fox vaguely alluded to their desire to move forward with a sequel to prometheus. I guess my point is...id really like to see prometheus 2 greenlit relatively soon. Im growing tired of rumor and innuendo. there hasnt been anything official from fox regarding the the next installment in quite some time. Ill be a little less concerned once a writer is announced (by fox). I hope that happens sooner rather than later. At this point, 2014 is an impossibility if they hope to make a respectable film (i dont see 2015 being probable either). Unfortunately, 2017 sounds rather realistic. Either way...hope the film comes to fruition (and thanks for posting).

Your possibly right that this news has had a recent shelf date but perhaps the maintianing of the on-going trilogy idea still remains firm in the mind of the producers just are plodding somewhat with it but we as film-goers certainly have enough to sink our teeth into what with regards to the next Hobbit installment(s) coming, Avatar, Star Wars, Independence Day (?) Stargate, Mad Max, Terminator, Tron, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Transformers, Pacific Rim, Jurassic Park IV, Blade Runner 2, Superman: Man of Steel, Robocop, Sin City: Dame to Kill For, 300: Rise of an Empire, Star Trek Into Darkness and many more I am sure to come!

I've heard of a trilogy being made and thats awesome that Ridley Scott might make a trilogy that could finally stomp out star wars and I hope it does.

The Anunnaki were on the earth in those days--and also afterward--when the sons of God went to the daughters of humans and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, mighty men of high reno

He should clear everything of his slate and concentrate on the Prometheus sequels. The proposed Blade Runner 2 is pointless, endangering a cult classic, and The Counsellor movie sounds like a cure for insomnia. Also, as in a previous post, he ain't getting any younger! C'mon, Rids, get to it.

@HyperNova; Can you link the article you got that from? That would be cool if you did that. :) Also, Chris is about to open up our Prometheus2 site so there may be more info there.

i really cant imagine theyd be at a filming stage for a long time yet look at how much design work etc had to be done first then again if they have a lot of stuff from the design-storming sessions of prometheus that could have given them a head start but still dont know.... and Sir Ridders is 75!!!!! honestly i'd have never thought it, late fifties/early sixtys maybe but not 75! he really doesnt look it! guess theres something in keeping busy cos boy is he a busy man.
I LIKE WORMS! I LOVE WORMS!

Svanya, I found the link and it looks a s though the item may have been cited around 6 Months ago or so-it-says at the top of the page just below the articles title. Unconfirmed Rumor: Prometheus Sequel In Development I may have created a little bit of false hope so sorry for that alright everybody, I guess I was heavily into the content a for a sec forgot to consider the souce and both its time and date. On the other hand though, there's nothing to discount that it may not have some validty in and around fact. He (Ridley Scott) could have the next phase of the PROMETHEUS franchise steam-rolling ahead on a production line as some of you have rightly pointed out he is 75 and getting on a bit albeit in a good and healthy way just that he may want to have one project finished and seguay straight into another to keep the ball running so to speak. I think it would be best if he perhaps did both PROMETHEUS sequels back-to-back but just learn from hindsight and just get it right as he furthers the story! That ALL we WANT! Just get the story right! Us fans dont want much, just need to have our intellects satisfied! If I find anymore links I shall post them here if some other equally dilligent person doesn't beat me to it! See you later. HyperNova. *Link made clickable by Svanya

It’s my opinion that trilogy type movies kinda lack the punch, especially with the 2nd movie out of the 3. As an example Matrix, Batman and Lord of the Ring to say a few... The last Batman movie however with the villain “Banes” played by Tom Hardy was awesome imo... In fact any other actor playing that role, I don’t think the 3rd installment of Batman would have been very good at all... But the second movie in any trilogy just seems to lose steam within the movie itself.... With that said, I fear that the 2nd Prometheus movie may be lacking and then having to wait 2-3 more years for the final movie to hit the theaters, which by my estimate may take us into the year 2018 at best. With Sir Ridley Scott at 75 years young today, by the time 2018 hits us, he will be what? 81 perhaps 82 years of age? I only hope his son can direct and has a similar vision like his pappa has with dealing w/sci-fi movie making, directing and producing....
I should reach the frontier in about 6 weeks. With a little luck, the network will pick me up. This is Ripley, last survivor of the Nostromo....

O.k. Svanya, I will do that. Just give me some time to remeber where I found it. It was recent but I am just trailing through my saved web searches so will get back to you all soon on that one, alright. I's highly possible that I failed to take notice of the date of the article as I was fixed upon the information or so-called 'information' that it apparantly provided. I will continue my search for it now. Will get back soon guy's 'n' girl's o.k.

Ty for the link. Yes I believe if you read around the site you will find a ton of news relating to the Prometheus sequel, such as M.Fassbender and N.Rapace having been confirmed as signed on to play David8 and Shaw. This post is very interesting in particular as it relates to yours directly; NexusNews Prometheus 2 leak
