"Soldier" is a 1998 science fiction film directed by Paul W.S. Anderson. The film, classified as a thriller, starred Kurt Russell as a futuristic soldier named Todd 3465 who is rendered obsolete by a new breed of fighters and relegated to DSer, an outpost on the outer rim of the universe. It was written by David Peoples, who also was involved in rewriting the script for Blade Runner. It could be considered a sidequel to Blade Runner as it obliquely references various elements of stories written by Philip K Dick (who wrote the novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, on which Blade Runner is based), or film adaptations thereof. For example, a vehicle from Blade Runner, known as a "spinner," can be viewed in one scene. However, Dick was not involved in the film's creation, nor was it directly based on any of his works. In "Soldier", we discover the character Todd was present at Tannhauser Gate, which Roy Batty mentioned in his death soliloquy. Another reference from BR, Thannhausser Gate, maybe a stargate, there was a possible glimpse of it from one of deleted scenes only. Thank you for sharing.

THanks for bringing up this connection. I saw 'Soldier' many years ago and it was very good. THere is quite a lot of speculation on the web about the Soldier/Bladerunner/Weyland connection. I will look forward to any info of this storyline connections.

I enjoyed "Soldier", been a while since I saw it, but I do remember being struck by the Spinner & the Tannhauser Gate reference!
