...in the sequel is that Ridley has the balls to show the end of days, the destruction of earth, humankind, life as we know it and what, if anything, lies beyond for us, the engineers and the universe in general. I'm sick of humankind and the world being saved at the end of films. I want to see something that, to my knowledge, has never been done in film. Show Revelations. Show that there is or isn't an afterlife. Show the Engineers seeding a new lifeform. Just show us something we haven't seen before. I would very much enjoy to see the a film that shows the destruction of mankind, which imo, and in light of how mankind treats eachother and our world, is a bit deserved. Show us what we've done and why we deserve to be wiped out. Show us being wiped out. Then maybe have the Engineers seeding a new planet with a new being which has been created with the help of Shaw who is the one last surviving human. A race which is worthy of the precious gift of life. Just some thoughts. But basically I want to see the end of life as we know it. I understand that this might not be the best idea commercially. It's what I would like to see most in a film though. I remember watching Kevin Smith's Red State for the first time and how gripping and riveting it was when the "horns" start blowing at the end of the film and it seems that the end is finally nigh and we are going to get to see it. It was amazing. That film went another way of course which, while I was a little dissapointed, was a great ending. Definitely the proper ending considering what came before it. Anyway...what do you guys want the most out of the film?

woa... I like the idea of a NO SALVATION in the end of a movie/story. I only expect to see dark, gruesome and jaw dropping happenings in the sequel(s). And a lot of frustration on Shaw's behalf. yep, that will do.

I don't really know if you will be granteed to see the end of mankind, but you will surely see more dangers than the humankind is a teeny species !

Seeing the wrath of judgment unleashed upon mankind won't happen in the sequels to Prometheus because then it would undo the established universe of Alien-Alien Resurrection. What I would like to see is some very Giger inspired landscapes, visuals and themes showing that, although the Engineers may be our forebearers they have become a truly bio-mechanical race. Much like some of the ideas I have mentioned in previous threads.

@ Snorkelbottom: I could bet you are right, not specialy about Giger, but for a totally new point of view on other worlds. Not a lot of ways could be explored, the first movie takes a clever pleasure to close most of the ways for a sequel. Regarding the Scott intention, we are going further to other kind of movie (in Paradise movie). I hope that Fox will makes it easy after fragilizing the becoming of Scott stories with Prometheus... Give him 300 000 000, the work will be done, quite well done !

It would be so nice to actualy see an entire Gigeresque world in the sequel, built by Giger himself, with lots of biomechanoids and sexual innuendo a la Giger. That would be sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet. But I seriously doubt that will happen.

The vision can happen, but it be inspired at the least, designed at the most by Giger. Giger is too old to build sets, but there are many concept artists out there that have mirrored his style that could realise the image in an awe inducing and magnificent way.

Giger creates the Xenomorph in 1975-76, for a short Cut movie, a student project. When Scott contacted him, charmed by the power of the Giger art , Giger was already, ready, for Alien, why ? Because he is a quite powerfull artist ! What i want to mean about that ? All the Giger univers is already created (for the most). Ridley offers a neverending credit to Gigger with the mural representation of the Xeno(s). Regarding the personnal qualities of who is really Giger, all the works he have done since 50 years is opened to Scott (with some compensations of course). So what ? Giger is now a part of a bigger univers, including more referencies to create a rich univers. But, the xeno will probably remain the angular stone of the Scott Mythology agressivity !

Considering what happened to prometheus, I doubt if they use giger art in next movie. I doubt it.
Uncertainty is the only certainty there is, and knowing how to live with insecurity is the only security.

i think so, but all is depending on Fox priorities, Fox and Giger are not a real friend. But, maybe the Fox next Scott movie could get it on the 2015 summer, with the Jim toy arround.

@Snorkel...Yep, I totally didn't even think about the Alien. Shows you how much I hope Scott continues to deviate from the Alien franchise prototype. However, it could still be done. Maybe keep Shaw in the second film and then continue on with David or new characters in the third, going on past the events of the first Alien and just throwing the continuity of the rest of the franchise out the window. I doubt it will happen though and that makes me sad. What I doubt equally as much however is that Giger will be envolved in any capacity besides a designer credit. It's obvious the Giger ship has sailed. IMO, anyway. I love Giger and all but he's obviously not as visionary as he once was. There are thousands upon thousands of Gigeresque artists as well as other great artists wwith somewhat similar visions but have totally new ideas.

Engineering: Great idea. It would be moving to see Shaw as the last human standing, with only David for company (But plenty of other reproductive "opportunities"). Regarding Giger, it seems to me that there is enough inspiration in his extant work to fuel several movies, including his unused Alien concepts. Is he uncooperative ? Too expensive?

I'm not sure but I think the relationship between Fox and Giger is too far gone. I think it's more that Giger doesn't want to work with Fox rather than the other way around. Fox did Giger wrong after the first film. I know he worked on Alien 3 but that didn't work out well at all. To my knowledge there aren't many of the Fox execs and co that did him wrong left. That's why I doubt there's any problem on the part of Fox. If there is a problem with Fox it probably is money. Giger's worth a lot and I'm sure he even wants more due to the mistreatment. Like I said, imo Giger doesn't have an ounce of the impact he had back in 1979. He was a visionary and his work was shocking. But it's not shocking anymore. It's not considered that bizzare. And Fox can pay a very talented, Gigeresque artist a lot less money and get the same effect. Like I said, I love Giger and his work. I think he was dealt a bad hand by Fox. But as pointed out by someone(can't remeber who) in the Alien Anthology Special Features "does Alien owe Giger or does Giger owe Alien?" Personally, I think it evens out. I don't think Giger would have been close to as popular and celebrated as he is if it wasn't for Alien. I do think Alien could still have been a popular and maybe celebrated film without Giger though. So, I dig Giger. I love what he did. But do I have a yearning to see his art in the new films? Not really. I think art has caught up with him and there are plenty of other artists that could do something new and take the production and creature design in a new direction. Just as Giger did in the original. Will these new directions have the impact that Giger's did? Probably not as we've seen it all. Just my 2 cents.

Who would be the protagonist in that story if Shaw is helping the Engineers?

Giger remain the more "Shocking" artist arround for a lot of time, you are right the Alien and its approch for horror is no more scarry, but the Alien is only one little part of the Giger creation, the little part which bring the great part of the cake ! But beyond all that, the Giger's univers problem is that it is to fantasy, visualy, it takes to much money to be created.

@ Xenotron: I would probably take a tomatoe shot, but in fact, the central protagonist would be probably the "Engineers". ^^
