Just in case you want to know how they're marketing it in Japan for 24 August. Nazo no kotae wa, shitte wa ikenai. PU.RO.ME.TE.U.SU[/i] Translation: Why is the moment of the birth of humankind still an open question? The answer to the mystery must not be revealed. PROMETHEUS ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Honk if you think this is related to what happened to David at the hands of the Engineer?

I do. It is never a good idea to disturb the big man... and beside... rarely do we receive the answer we were hoping for...

personally, and i know a lot of people disagree, i like not having questions answered. i dont know if i ever really want to see an engineer say " oh, mrs Shaw, we created humans because..." etc. depending on exactly how the question is answered it could be interesting, but i would really prefer not to answer it. just to explore more and discover more things including more questions... i suppose this is just my personality but i still get excited about mystery and to me a more "Alexander the Great" kind of cliche of the search being the interesting part, not finding out. although im interested to find out lots of little things like maybe about the culture of the engineers and some of their motives but id rather think about "the meaning of life" than be told what it is. the shadows of Caravaggio are better to me than a photo of a light filled scene where there is no mystery left to unravel.

I think Patch is really on the the point in this. "Rarely do we receive the answer we were hoping for." That seem already set up by the "Wouldn't it be disappointing...?" question from David to Holloway. BUT, for those who feel the behavior of the Engineer toward David was irrational, I feel a thread of causality that may be captured in the way the film is being marketed in Japan. I agree wholeheartedly with Jens that no answer conceived by any human writer could possibly be as satisfying as simply continuing to ponder the questions...
