Idea for a Prometheus sequel ( based on a discarded Prometheus idea).
Jesus: the Death Bringer!
The Promethe-myth goes thus: Jesus was one of their own. 8 foot tall albino alien in Galilee wouldn't cause a stir would he?
"Hand me that hammer would you, Jesus."
"Get it yourself, human"
Then they crucify him (weird as the Deacon alien is seen to be crucified in the mural- imagine that running around Galilee)
But the fun starts if the jolly white giants get back to Earth. The sequel follows such an Engineer who we call "Jesus 2".
Let's assume for the moment that Earth has no defenses, communication or any other way of stopping the ship short of Earth (remember last time we saw these guys we probably thought the world was flat)
We don't even have suicidal pilots prepared to fly their ships into it. And it's too soon for the USS Enterprise.
Jesus 2 Engineer would come down to Earth and release the apulee black stuff and "engineer" our end. Jesus 2 Engineer would be the Second Coming Apocalypse.
Our only hope would be Lucifer Engineer (an Engineer peace protester who was shunned from the Engineer planet) who wants to go against the teachings of these "Gods" and give us a choice and a chance.
Lucifer Engineer shuns the ways of the Jesus 2 Engineer; self sacrifice, looking out for others, knowing your place etc, and wants to live for ever. For his sins he was banished to Hell.
Earth is Hell!
All you have to do to find Lucifer Engineer is look for the most successful (and tall) guy on the planet right now.
I imagine a big showdown between these two. The important thing is not to let the Jesus ship near our world. Take it out in orbit. Lucifer Engineer would have prepared for this.
Ironically in the end, we thank Lucifer Engineer (now revealed to us) by killing him because we're scared of him. The military budget quadruples overnight and we become Fortress Earth. Republican corporations running the planet stay in power for decades. Religion is outlawed for "getting it hopelessly wrong". It's all a bit grim in a 1970's sci-fi sort of way.

and secondly, just because these dudes died 2000 years ago, doesn't mean they were scheduled to fly 2000 years ago, so the whole connection to that time period is an assumption. They may well have work to do in the lab and when finished, back to the long sleep until time to go get some more material to work on.
Certainly, while the lone Space Jockey here slept, it would seem, that two more visits to Earth occured, the most recent being the one that resulted in the Hawaiian cave drawing dated 680 CE (or AD if you're that way inclined) .

MemberOvomorphJun-21-2012 11:13 AMJesus one of the Engineers as emissary is good.. it actually connects with Prometheus. like the cross the girl wearing and 2000 years they mentioned.. it will be like this, the emissary mission was to teach human about love, forgiveness, and care something like that. in return the human's crucify the emissary. that make's the engineers angry to the humans and planned to make a weapon of mass destruction. oh btw the emissary is like the son of their king.. about the 3 kings following the star where Jesus will be born. its actually not a star but a spaceship of engineers.. these maybe a good connection..
sorry for my bad english guys.. im still pissed at the end of Prometheus. i need to see Prometheus II gademet!

MemberOvomorphJun-30-2012 1:12 PMIt's quite possible..i have a theory that the engineers..can like the immortal jellyfish can change their body cells to a more juvenile.. younger version of themselves during this time of transformation the engineers become temporarily non corporeal .... therefore we have the original egineer rebirthing himself..it would seem like ressurection/ virgin birth ect..whether it is our jesus or just the loose fact before it got changed altered and embeded in our culture...
