MemberNoobSep-10-2012 9:21 AMI think it'll be more of a psychological thriller because if you tried to make a straight word-for-word remake it would be instantly smoked by the original. That was a one-of-a-kind movie for all sorts of reasons and was of its time. It surprised and shocked a lot of people and now the element of surprise is lost.
And the original was an 18-rated movie which probably won't happen this time around making it practically a different universe from the first one.
So being a big fan of the original series of films, I was initially sceptical of any remake, as indeed I was with the 'reboot' of A Nightmare on Elm Street. But now I think, about both movies, give them a chance. I'm interested to see what they'll come up with.
If the 1987 original was a full-on heavy metal LP of a movie then maybe this new one will be rather more of a classical piece, exploring the relationship between man and machine. Like I say, a psychological thriller.
