Engineer Prototype - Model GAJ84
MemberOvomorph12/6/2011Damn, I just started a new thread on this. Thanks though Rick, I wanted to get one up I have saved on my laptop, will a link from facebook work?
Rick
MemberXenomorph12/6/2011Hey EP,
I don't know I haven't tried facebook.
Regards,
Rick

AdminEngineer12/6/2011Thanks for posting Rick, you're absolutely right. If you have not pasted an image URL in the space under the image, then it will appear as a blank space under the current picture. However, if you have already added a new profile pic and wish to change it, you simply replace the current URL with that of the new image.
For changes to take place you need re-enter your current password or type a new one as well. Then click "UPDATE".
However, I will try to upgrade the design for the update profile page to make this process easier.
Thanks for the feedback!

AdminEngineer12/6/2011Also, ensure your image URL has the correct file extension, (ie. ".JPG", ".PNG", ".GIF", etc...) or the URL will render useless. We may implement an "upload from your computer" feature, but this current method saves us a lot on bandwidth.

MemberOvomorph12/6/2011I've tried from both facebook and photobucket and neither work. The image is jpeg.

MemberOvomorph12/6/2011You can use a facebook picture. If you have firefox it is easy just go to your photo then right click on it and then click "view image" from the menu. This should take you to a page with just your picture on it. Copy the url from the address bar from that page.

MemberXenomorph12/6/2011No Problem always around to help.
Confirmed Facebook Pictures Don't Work. - Unless you have Firefox
Edit Box only needs a little white outline so people know where to paste the link.
LOL We've been using the site for so long, we sometimes overlook the little things we've become acustomed to.

MemberOvomorph12/6/2011Well no you just have to find the actual URL. I use to do it in IE but I don't recall how right off the bat.
EDIT: To get the direct URL from a facebook picture using Internet explorer. Go to your picture and right click on it then select properties. From the properties pop up box copy your pictures location from the URL after where it says "Address"

MemberXenomorph12/6/2011EP is the picture 200x200? If its too large it won't render
Rick
MemberXenomorph12/6/2011Ok, nevermind there you go its up !

MemberOvomorph12/6/2011I checked and that picture is 240 x 220 that may have something to do with it also because I noticed the limit is now 200 x 200 I think, not sure if this applet will resize it for the right size...try editing the pic to 200 x 200 if it still doesn't work. Or just let me know if it does not and I will resize it for you.

MemberOvomorph12/6/2011never mind, good stuff man.

MemberOvomorph12/6/2011@ Biomechanic, your method is spot on. This has been getting me a bit stressed as every single link i put in just kept coming up blank, your method worked 1st time. Remind be to buy you a pint if i ever meet you. Cheers.

AdminEngineer12/6/2011There's part of the problem EP,

Remove the [b]?action=view¤t=[/b] from the URL. You want the direct image URL. For example, it may be this: [b]http://s1082.photobucket.com/albums/j366/plinny1984/space-jockey.jpg[/b]. On Photobucket, you should be able to select the direct URL, BBcode UIRL, etc.. what you want is the Direct URL.

MemberXenomorph12/6/2011This also works in Chrome. Instead the right click drop down menu shows "Copy Image URL"
