MemberNoobMar-09-2012 7:37 PMAnytime IrishAndroid1.........Glad you could join us................I myself am as big a fan of 'Alien' as can be and I can't remember a time when it wasn't my favorite film...well, ever. Sure I'm biased, but 'Alien' is to me as damn close to perfect a film as I can imagine and I've been waiting and praying for Ridley to come back to this universe for more than fifteen years and still cannot believe it's actually come to pass.

Co-AdminMemberNoobMar-09-2012 8:07 PMHI everybody! I'm Cypher, otherwise known as Darth Cypher or Unit Zer0 :-P the first contact I had with any Alien movie was Aliens when my mum was watching it when I was about 7, I walked into the loungeroom just as the Queen was shoving her tail through Bishop and thought that the guy was giving birth to a missle or something, I asked if I could watch it but of course was told no. So I got up later that night and watched it from beginning to end when everyone else was asleep :-P needless to say I was hooked from then on, and love all sorts of sci-fi from Star Wars to Japanese animation, in particular one called The Guyver. If the Alien was a badass biological weapon then the Guyver Unit is THE ULTIMATE, I'd HATE to see what a Guyver Alien could do to someone............
I also collect as much as I can get my hands on in regards to just about everything sci-fi you can imagine, except Star Trek, sorry but I just don't enjoy it for some reason, I have tried but at the end of the day I'm a Jedi through and through ;-)
So, in all I'm glad to see that there are so many fellow Alien and Prometheus fans here as rabid as I am. Bring on JUNE AND CREEPY NEW MONSTERS!!!

MemberNoobMar-10-2012 10:44 PMHello all! I am a huge Alien fan!!! This actually the first site I have ever posted on. I have been truely impressed by the great posts and the intellect that goes in to them. On a funny note, my son has asked a lot of questions as to. why I am always on this site. I tried to explain why. He then asked, can you talk to that lady that screams in the video? Gotta love the mind of a child. Anyway, thanks for letting me be part of this great community.

MemberNoobMar-10-2012 10:58 PMI was 12 when Alien first came out. Those lucky friends of mine with unscrupulous older siblings (or parents!) got to go and get the living **** scared out of them. I had to wait until VCR's got invented so I could finally rent it...and it blew my mind hole.. I know John Carpenter poo pooed it in favour of his 'The Thing' for I which I will give a shout out here as also a great horror film, but come on...you can't argue with a perfect organism. I remember our high school put on a double feature in the auditorium- The beast within followed by Alien. Quel double filme non?! Anyway, can't wait for PROM- its gonna be awesome dudes and dudettes

MemberNoobMar-10-2012 11:28 PMHey guys!
As my name implies, I was introduced to this wild world first through "Aliens"...I think I was in 7th or 8th grade at the time. I stayed over night at a friend's and he had both movies on tape. He said the 2nd one had a bunch of Aliens, cool guns and was directed by the guy who did Terminator, so naturally that sounded awesome to me =) He had a pet guinea pig and I had never slept over at his house before, so I spent the whole friggin' night with a pillow over my face because the pig sounded like a face hugger running around the room. "Aliens" is my most watched movie of all time, but as an adult, I do appreciate "Alien" as a film and regard it as the best in the franchise. Like everyone, I'm fascinated by Mr. SJ and can't wait to have some of the mystery peeled away. Of course half of the genius of the SP was not knowing anything about such an amazing piece of sci-fi. Knowing Ridley's and Lindelof's (born the same year as me) style, I'm pretty confident they will probably add as much mystery to the story as they solve, so I'm excited!!!!!!!!

MemberNoobMar-10-2012 11:33 PMOh yeah...I know the name is weird =) The line just stuck in my head. It is not wise to piss off a guy who has the authority to launch a nuke at your billion dollar atmospheric processor!

MemberNoobMar-11-2012 3:22 AMJumped on board after reading this site for quite awhile, and enjoying the camaraderie with those that post. Pretty simple - excited for the flick, had a weird take on what might be happening (which I'm sure most have already put together watching the trailer) but wanted to be apart of this gig!

Moonibal
MemberNoobMar-15-2012 12:17 AMHi, I am Moonibal, and I have become increasingly obsessed with with the Alien movies since 2007. I have a particular soft spot for Alien 3 as for the longest time it was the only Alien movie they showed on the Starz Channel before I owned the movies myself, so I would stay up past midnight just to watch it everynight it was on which oddly enough happend two sometimes three times a week. I now own two different copies of each movie. Three for Alien and Alien 3, still working on the Aliens and Ressurection. I also own all of the soundtracks but Aliens which I should be getting again soon as used to have a digital copy on an older computer. So yeah I am working on becoming a die hard Alien fan.
I would also like to say that I do not count the AVP movies as Alien cannon and that if anything they are their own universe.
Also I love this site. It has kept me updated on everything promethues since last summer when I discovered it. So many hours spent here, so worth it.

MemberInitiateMar-15-2012 8:35 AMI was born in '76, so didn't see 'Alien' until I was about 12 in '88, a couple years after 'Aliens' was released. I watched 'Aliens' shortly thereafter. As a result, this is what was on the door to my bedroom until I left my parents' house for college. Unfortunately, it didn't survive the move, but it's nice to know you can still buy it. :-)

MemberNoobMar-15-2012 8:42 AMCheck this out I have told it many times but the last time was a while ago. My dad was in charge of Irwin Toy before headng up Decca Records when I was a kid, and in both cases he was in charge for the entire North American market...I am gonna be 50 On June 15th, 1 week after the film's release. 3 Months before ALIEN was released, he took me to a Toy Show in NYC and presented me with the very first Prototype ALIEN doll, made by Kenner, a company owned by irwin Toy. He pulled out it;s Jaw, looked at me and said..."This is gonna be Huge" and to this day I do not think he realizes himself just how right he was about that.
Bonus: Here we are some 33+ years later and terrifically funny and loving guy who happens to be going through his own personal HELL and is on Dialisys 4 times a week for 4 hours each time at least "Ruhiyana" sent me a beautiful japanese sculpted ALIEN DOLL collectors item from "Revolvtech" i thnk is how it is spelled..anyways this forum Rocks and so do the people on it.
You gotta Love this Board Guys !
It Rocks And so will Prometheus!

MemberNoobMar-16-2012 10:20 AMHappy to lend support to this very detailed site and forum, and very much looking forward to 'Prometheus', given that I have (in a very peripheral way) a stake in it.
I was too young to see 'Alien' back in 1979, but I caught up with things in the 80's. I'm probably in the camp that was uncomfortable with the shift in tone that occurred in the sequel by Cameron; the original always seemed pretty fresh and mysterious for what was (in a very real sense) an updated haunted-house B-movie.
Like many followers of the franchise, I've given thought to the universe behind the four core films (i.e. the society, the context of the exploration and trade we see in the original film). I also have had an interest in tabletop roleplaying for some time (i.e. the verbal narratives, rulebooks and dice rolling associated with games like 'Dungeons & Dragons', among others).
When I heard that Ridley Scott was committing to a prequel to his original film, I thought it would be interesting to combine roleplay and Alien fandom by writing a prequel game campaign for my gaming group. As expected, my work seems to be nothing like that of the upcoming film 'Prometheus' (which is fine by me!). The work proved to be an interesting exercise in story back-engineering, and - I think - provided some challenging fun for the players.
So, if you happen to be/have been a roleplayer as well as an Alien fan, you may also enjoy listening to the recorded game sessions which are available free at the capacious http://rpgmp3.com site.
A particular fascination for many roleplayers is H.P. Lovecraft and his 'Cthulhu' mythos, usually by way of the licensed roleplaying game by Chaosium. There is, also, evidence that the original script for the 1979 film was - in part - inspired by Lovecraft, besides other sources (e.g. Italian filmmaker Mario Bava). These topics are touched upon in the game podcasts and the supporting material at the same site.
So, in a way, roleplaying a fan-written Alien prequel, which I call 'Alien0', brought together those elements.

MemberNoobMar-16-2012 10:29 PMDont want to get too geeky on this, but it would make no sense in my opinion to totally ignore the tech that cameron gave us in aliens. you dont actually get that much in alien, and it is actually amazing what we can get out of that small piece of film making. bunch of guys (and ladies obviously) off on some deep space factory job. cameron took it in a different direction, but in my opinion, equally good when you consider its target market.
like everybody else im guessing, im looking forward to this movie more than any other in my life. im a total star wars buff since i was 3 at empire strikes back time, and could not wait for the prequels, but this will (hopefully) be the best example of how sci-fi should be made so far. i dont want to get too far into the ins and outs of the movie, and certainly dont want to be talking about whats guaranteed based on a few clips from a trailer, but i do love hearing peoples opinions on what can happen. only thing that annoys me is my educated friends who dont even know prometheus is coming. the best part of this (again, hopefully) is that 30 years from now we'll all be able to look back and say we were part of it from the start, vural websites and all

MemberNoobMar-19-2012 7:37 PMHi! Been a fan of the Alien movies since around 1982 when I first got to see the original movie on Australian TV.
Since then I've read a watched everything Alien I could get my hands on!
The new movie looks absolutely fantastic!
I can't wait to see how Mr Scott expands and elaborates on this already great story/mythos, and the origin of the species. (If that's at all part of the film!?)
Cheers!
