Old fart omg. When I first saw Robocop I was splitting up with my first wife! What struck me was the brutality. How did that strike you at such a tender age? Also (I haven't seen it since. No disrespect for Robocop) I remember it being really clever and funny. Violence in movies was taking a new turn at this time. Everything was bigger, meatier, it was becoming the new norm. Robocop seemed almost experimental to me, taking things to a new level. What stands out was the initial execution, where they were just PUMPING HIM FULL of bullets. Prior to that, the victim would have died. But he was alive, and they were laughing at him. Horrific. No offense, but for whatever reason Toxic Avenger comes to mind.

I didn't actually see any of the violence until I saw the film in it's entirety at 14 or 15, I was barred from watching it before that, so I was able to handle it a bit better, but it was still fairly shocking to see Murphy get his arm blown off and shot through the head (by that time the extremely gory version had been released) the effects are still pretty mind blowing even today I think ;-)

was very young when first saw it on VHS. I remember feeling pitty for the guy when he is in his former house reliving family moments. It was a sad sequence for me, that one. His inner struggle to regain humanity was very well done, in a subtle way.

The rumor is that this movie will focus much more on Murphy's struggle becoming a cyborg and how it affects is mind, from what I've been seeing/reading............

I remember seeing it on the cave walls by animal fat candles... I had seen worst stuff happen just outside the cave entrance, but I like the cave women though.

I was there the day it opened in theaters. Great movie and Peter Weller was perfect for the role. So many things stand out in the movie - the first person perspective from Robo was awesome and made you feel like you were inside of him. His pistol was bad ass and a great idea to have it pop out of his leg. He was robotic but human so you could relate to him. My fears on this new movie - DO NOT make him look like Iron Man – please, please do not do that. No light sabers or light cycles. Keep Robo real! Torn between his programming and his human emotions. That is what made you relate to the guy and feel his pain. I would like to see this movie pick up where Peter Wellers left off. Maybe he gets put into cryo and something happens 30 years later and they pull him out, upgrade him with new software, some new hardware and he has to kick ass and deal with newer technology and politics.

ANd I have also heard that the visor will be see-through to portray more of Murphy's emotion, but the scene when he goes to arrest Dick Jones and gets hammered by ED-209 causing his helmet to crack and you see his eye through the crack was just one of the best in the film I think!

Did you all know that part of the costume design was from Tokusatsu? If not, Look it up on wiki. Rick Bottin, the designer was inspired by the Metal Hero Series Space Sheriff Gavan, an inspiration that , sadly, was not continued with the new look.
