News regarding the plot for War for the Planet of the Apes has been very difficult to come by. However, this has abruptly changed as of this week, wherein the first footage from the film will be revealed soon, plus a synopsis has been detailed.
Deadline reports that the first footage from the film will be brought to New York Comic Con. Director Matt Reeves will present the footage at an exclusive behind the scenes presentation at the Regal E-Walk theater on October 10th.
In addition, 20th Century Fox released the synopsis to the film:
In War for the Planet of the Apes, the third chapter of the critically acclaimed blockbuster franchise, Caesar and his apes are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless Colonel. After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins this own mythic quest to avenge his kind. As the journey finally brings them face to face, Caesar and the Colonel are pitted against each other in an epic battle that will determine the fate of both their species and the future of the planet.
This synopsis does make it sound as if the film will live up to its title promise of a war. It also hints at multiple skirmishes in the film, as there will be a clash between armies. The colonel will be played by Woody Harrelson's character, who is leading the human forces.
