Many fans are wondering, where in the Tron movie timeline does Tron: Ares reside? Officially, the soft reboot directed by Joachim Rønning starring Jared Leto does fit into the canonical Tron film timeline, taking place approximately 14 years after the events of Tron: Legacy. This explains and accounts for the aged Kevin Flynn character, played by, now an older Jeff Bridges.
While after 14 years, Flynn makes his return to the iconic franchise, fans should not expect to see any other Tron: Legacy cast making their returns – notably absent from Tron: Ares are Olivia Wilde's character Quorra, Garrett Hedlund's Sam Flynn and Cillian Murphy's Dillinger Jr.
