Earlier today Paramount Pictures announced the release dates for the next three movies in their long running Transformers movie franchise. The franchise, which has amassed $3.77 billion in worldwide bx office earnings brings the Hasbro manufactured toys and cartoon characters that were highly popular during the 1980's. According to Deadline the next, fifth instalment which will be directed (allegedly for the last time) by Michael Bay and will also see the return of Mark Wahlberg as lead character Cade Yaeger, and has been scheduled for a June 23rd 2017 release, with its sequel to be released June 8th 2018 and the seventh movie set for a June 28th 2019 release date. Reportedly an eighth movie is also in development, with a 2020 release date looking the moat likely.

These release dates have come about from Akiva Goldsmans team of creative writers, whom were tasked with extending the widely successful franchise into an extended universe, as has become the recent trend in Hollywood.

Either Godzilla or Transformers has to move from this date. Hollywood isn't exactly for these movies cannibalizing each other. One of them will move.

@GMan - I was thinking that exact same thing when I read the announcement. I'm thinking Godzilla moves. Transformers, quality notwithstanding, are big moneymakers and fairly popular with the general movie-going public. I would go see Godzilla over Transformers (in fact, I've never seen any Transformers movies), but I'm in the minority of the viewers out there. The big dilemma is, where does it move to? 2018 is pretty stacked just before and after that date.
