On December 27th, Carrie Fisher, known best as Princess Leia, passed away at the UCLA Medical Center after going into cardiac arrest days earlier.
“It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning,” said family spokesman Simon Halls. “She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers.”
On Friday, December 23rd, Fisher was removed from a London flight to Los Angeles after going into cardiac arrest. Her family initially stated that she was in stable condition, but later died at the hospital. She was 60 years old.
Our love and prayers go out to the legendary Star Wars actress also known for The Blues Brothers (1980) and When Harry Met Sally (1989). Her final screen appearance will be in Star Wars: Episode VIII (2017). Episode IX director Colin Trevorrow (Jurassic World [2015]) had initially wanted Fisher to have a much bigger role in his film. She will be dearly missed.
