Whilst the drama going on behind the scenes of Star Citizen has bought the game a ton of bad publicity as of late, you still have to admit that it's looking pretty damn amazing. And it certainly should, what with a budget of $128 million dollars and everything.
Over two hours of footage was revealed in a livestream event called CitizenCon, which you can enjoy below. If you suffer from vermiphobia, I suggest you stop watching at the 1:54:00 mark.
Directed by Wing Commander creator Chris Roberts, the single-player component of Star Citizen will be titled Squadron 42 and will feature an A-list voice cast including Mark Hamill, Gillian Anderson, Andy Serkis and Mark Strong.
The hugely ambitious project does not yet have a release date and is probably still a long way off. A console release also seems to be unlikely, as it’s been indicated that the limited hardware capabilities of the 8th generation systems probably won’t be able to handle such an expansive and technologically advanced game (even the PS Neo and Xbox Scorpio may not be strong enough for Star Citizen), but we’ll keep you posted as soon as we hear more.
In the meantime, let’s just hope that we don’t have the next No Man’s Sky on our hands…
