Tron: Ares arrives in theaters this weekend and some very hefty rumors have begun recirculating. Despite director Joachim Rønning saying no other Tron: Legacy characters would be returning in Ares besides Kevin Flynn during his interview with SFX Magazine, the rumor mill suggests that isn't true and was likely a misdirection to preserve the surprise. The rumor of Sam Flynn's return has been swirling around since this past summer, but as we narrow in on Ares' release date, additional rumors have surfaced, adding weight to the claim.
The rumor is: Sam Flynn – played by Garrett Hedlund will be returning in Tron: Ares, alongside Quorra – but not necessarily played again by Olivia Wilde – the rumors suggest they recast her for Ares.
Is there any validity to this rumor so far? We want to say no – given Rønning's recent comments, specifically about this very thing. However, the resurgence of Sam Flynn and Quorra would undoubtedly drive fans wild in the theaters.
Tron: Ares takes place 14 years after Tron: Legacy and will see the return of Kevin Flynn, once again portrayed by Jeff Bridges. We'll know for sure in 4 days when Tron: Ares arrives in cinemas!
