The first episode of the eleventh series of the British science-fiction comedy Red Dwarf has just aired on the UKTV channel Dave. Starring Craig Charles, Chris Barrie, Danny John-Jules and Robert Llewellyn the first episode "Twentica" saw the crew of the JMC mining vessel Red Dwarf travel back to 1950's America. In a similar style to previous time travel episodes of the long-running show the hapless foursome had to figure out a way back to the future. Without posting any spoilers, the crew inevitably make things worse before somehow fumbling into a solution courtesy of a character aptly named "Bob the Bum".
With the typical interpersonal quips, genre based one-liners and low budget, old school visual effects, Red Dwarf looks set to have once again recaptured the magic it almost lost during the "Back to Earth" special a few years back. The crew may have aged somewhat in the years between series but the chemistry, creativity and comedy remains and makes the show as timeless and enjoyable as ever.
Be sure to watch Red Dwarf: Twentica on UKTV Play if you missed it on Dave.
