It has been known for quite some time that Disney and Lucasfilm plan to release a Star Wars movie every year until 2030, and as we have previously pointed out, with the as-of-yet untitled Star Wars: Episode IX expected to release in 2019 it is highly unlikely that the 2020's will be flooded entirely with standalone 'Star Wars Story' spin-offs. As such we postulated that another trilogy of Star Wars episode movies would be likely, concluding the story arcs of the characters introduced in 2015's Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Speaking to the Star Wars Show Lucasfilm's president Kathleen Kennedy gave hints as to what fans of Star Wars can expect over the next ten years...
"We're sitting down now, we're talking about the next ten years of Star Wars stories, and we’re looking at narratively where that might go. Future stories beyond Episode IX with these new characters: Rey, Poe, Finn, BB-8. But we're also looking at working with people that are interested in coming into the Star Wars world and taking us to places that we haven't been yet. And that's exciting too because it's a vast galaxy far, far away, so the possibilities are endless."
During the short interview, Kennedy also touched upon the progress of Solo: A Star Wars Story while praising its director Ron Howard and his posts to social media echoing those that George Lucas released during the production of the prequel trilogy. Kennedy also praised Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson while adding to the hype of the forthcoming movie. Finally, Kennedy also mentioned the companies expansion into virtual environments including virtual reality and video games.
