The Blade Runner sequel finally has a release date. The follow-up to Ridley Scott's 1982 sci-fi film will open on January 12, 2018, Warner Bros. announced today (via The Hollywood Reporter).
Ryan Gosling will star in the movie, alongside Harrison Ford, who will reprise his role as Rick Deckard.
Directing the film will be Denis Villeneuve (Sicario) from a script written by original Blade Runner co-writer Hampton Fancher and Michael Green (Alien: Covenant, Smallville). Filming is scheduled to begin in July.
Blade Runner was based on Philip K. Dick's 1968 dystopian novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? There is no word yet on what the story will be for the sequel.
