The long awaited sequel to Ridley Scotts 1982 neo-noir science fiction movie Blade Runner is currently deep in pre-production with Sicario director Denis Villeneuve working hard with his crew including Cinematographer Roger Deakins to prepare for filming the movie, based on a script by David Fancher and Michael Green which is reported to be set decades after the first movie. Ridley Scott, who is currently filming Alien: Covenant in New Zealand will executively produce the movie, along with a plethora of Hollywood executives attached to the property.
Production company Alcon Entertainment, who own the production rights to the franchise are so happy with progress on the sequel that they have reportedly moved the sequels release date to October 6th, 2017; three months before its previously planned release date of January 2018.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens star Harrison Ford will return as Rick Deckard, joined by new cast members Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright and Dave Bautista. There has been no confirmation if Battlestar Galactica's Edward James Olmos will return as Gaff.
