3 Minute Rogue One: A Star Wars Story trailer due Friday!

This coming Friday 15th July will see the release of an all new three-minute long trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. According to reports from MakingStarWars.net the new trailer will be aired on the American TV Network ABC during a featurette looking into the making of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. With the first trailer having only been two minutes long, this all new trailer is guaranteed to show plenty of new footage - although he has been confirmed to star in the forthcoming Star Wars pin off, we serious doubt that the Sith Lord Darth Vader will be showcased in next Fridays trailer and that he will most likely be teased at in the movies final trailer.

What we do expect to see is more of the movies hardware such as the U-Wing Transport and the TIE Striker, which we suspect will be showcased to help promote sales of merchandise as the hype around the movie slowly builds. We also expect Alan Tudyk's character K-2S0 and the rebel squads other CGI characters. Hopefully, we may even get to see some of the footage shown at last year's D23 Expo, which showed a TIE Fighter flying through a jungle before showing the Death Star on the horizon (pictured above). Here's the first teaser trailer to wet your appetite ready for Friday...

Durp004: We have the prequels so there is a reason to doubt it.

TBH there's only 1 prequel I find awful.

^That's the worst one IMO >:D

What do you think of Phantom Menace and Revenge of the Sith?

I think Phantom Menace gets a bad rep. While I by no means think it's great, I don't think Jarjar completely ruins the movie, and was interested in the political aspects tbh. The movie also throws something exciting at the screen every 10-20 minutes to keep people who don't like the politics entertained. It also has probably the best choreographed saber fight in the movies. So just below meh, just above bad. Not great but I don't have a problem rewatching it every year or so to look for things I missed.

Revenge of the Sith is the best out of the prequels IMO. I'd put put it about the same as New Hope, a little better than Force Awakens.

Of course a lot of this love is based on nostalgia from seeing these movies when I was young and the old Legends cannon EU like Darth Plagueis, Labyrinth of Evil, and a few other works helping to supplement the things Lucas had a hard to communicating to the audience.

^I thought Phantom Menace was bad, but nowhere as bad as Attack of the Clones, Revenge of the Sith was okay

@Lord Tyrant

Can I ask why someone who loves Force Awakens so much, finds the prequels average to bad? I mean they're not masterpieces, but I wouldn't put them that far behind Force Awakens TBH.

All the prequels are better than Force Awakens.

Eh, that might be going to far in the other direction.

I think there's a fair argument that Revenge of the Sith is at least a competitor in terms of quality, but there's no way that Attack of the Clones is better than Force Awakens. Even Ewan McGregor's great Obi Wan couldn't overcome that movies plotholes, dialogue, slow pace, and acting. Hayden Christensen does an ok job in RoTS, but he really drops the ball on this movie outside a few scenes like his mother dying and his revenge which was the highlight of the movie for me.

The Starwars Prequels....

Where to start ? I think one can describe them best as wasted potential.

First of all, why was this made as a trilogy, and what kind of storylines are there to justify these movies.

Ultimately this prequel story has 2 major plotpoints to cover.

1. How does the old republic change into the galactic Empire

2. What causes Anakin Skywalker to fall from grace, and become this evil Sithlord.

To me it feels as if the entire trilogy focuses way to much on very trivial stuff, and not on the things truly important.

I can probably go on for hours about all kinds of details, but to me the prequels failed because the 2 arcs mentioned above were not dealt with in a satisfying way.

Both the downfall of the Republic and the Downfall of Anakin are handled as if they were instant events.

Yes Anakin is a whiny self assured brat in the movies, and his huge ego is absolutely off putting. Yet he is not an evil guy. He saves Obi Wan on multiple occasions and usually goes the extra mile to help others where he can.

Then comes this so called switch moment, where the "evil switch" is enabled, and Anakin changes completely and instantly.

This whiny brat suddenly changes from a moping headstrong guy into a prolific mass murderer and child killer. And because of what ?

Mommy issues ? Him not getting the title of Jedi Master ? A nightmare ?

It's just so sudden, and there is no real context to actually justify any of it.

Nah, the prequels were very bad. They are bloated movies which for 80 % are unnecessary plot points going nowhere, and the true beef of the story, never really gets the proper attention.

After watchin the leaked 'trailer' it's basically the same trailer that came out a while back but with a few extra images and (the all important?) Vader's asthmatic problem at the end ... not worth the hype to be honest ... presume the official public trailer will probably be out later this year ...
