This movie was what I was looking for in a modern day Godzilla movie. Godzilla looked massive and awesome. The MUTO also looked devasterously vicious, (the female reminded me of the Cloverfield monster), and the flying one was my favorite. I would have liked Godzilla to have more screen time, but when he was on screen he stole the show. The characters, story, and other monster were also interesting enough to fill the void of him not being there for the time being. I would have also liked for the monster fights to have been shown more and for the movie to have not cut to another character or setting when they happened.
What Gareth edward succeeded in was giving a soul to Godzilla, the scenes where he was injured and tired were emotionally gripping for me especially. He gave the sense of power and fury, but also being a ancient creature who was vulnerably. I would have liked to see him be more of a force of nature that could easily destroy humanity, but that can be saves for another movie, (please do a sequel T_T)!! All in all, I loved the movie and I am planning to see it a second time in 3D & IMAX, it is the only way to get a true sense of his power and roar!!! Can't wait for the next one!!!
